Advice on next steps

DH and I have been trying TTC #1 for a year (10 cycles - I have weird ones), and so we've decided it's time to seek some help. I have been tested for PCOS (negative), and I have a preexisting blood condition, although that shouldn't be affecting TTC.

Obviously next step is GP. Should DH com with me to appt for any reason other than hand holding? What will GP do at this stage, or is it different for everyone depending on their medical history? Just want to know what to expect.

TIA, wonderful people.

Hi Drania,

DP doesn't necessarily need to be with you at the GP but it is nice because they will ask lots of questions about you both.

My doc sent me for blood tests first only day 21 to see if I was ovulating (turns out I wasnt even though I had a 28 day cycle).

She also sent my DP to get his sperm checked.

They will then if they think its worth it put you forward to see a gynae doctor and this your DP will definitely need to go to because they ask even more questions and arrange for many checks.

When I was considering ivf I went to doctors with oh as they will need his consent for tests. You will have various tests and they will also test his sperm and give him a genetics test. But your right in the aspect of doctors just tend to refer you to a clinic/hospital. Be prepared to wait to be seen or then not do anything just yet as they tend to do tests after 18 months/2years of trying.
Good luck
