My situation is this...

I have been trying to conceive baby no.2 for a year, and have had 2 miscarriages along the way. I am trying really hard and each month am so disappointed, it would ne nice to have someone to chat to about it.

I have tried to join in the trying to concieve threads, and although everyone seems lovely, it seems most are counting and charting things, and I dont have a clue what they are on about!!, no discrespect meant to any on those threads.

I took 8 months to fall with dd1 and am just trying to get pg again, have been to gp who said dont worry you are totally normal, just keep trying.

Anyone else out there like me?

can i just ask are your periods regular?

edie123 · 23/09/2006 21:04

Swift1

You should def come back on the ttc thread. I know what you mean with everyone charting and stuff but to be honest, it is just as much use to n ot do any of that stuff. There is a lot to be said for a relaxed attitude. I am half way to being someone that tries all that stuff but also thinks that doing none of it is just as good. Its annoying if you are being told dont worry as its natural to worry.

One thing I would say is just make sure you are having sex around time of ovulating. This happens roughly in the middle of your cycle for most people.

Hi,
Just like Edie says, come back on the ttc threads. I've been trying for no. 2 for 4 months now, which may not seem long, but it does to me! I dont do charting etc, but have started ti use OV tests this month just to make sure its happening. We are a nice bunch in the 'positive in October thread'. U'd be very very welcome!!!!

I was swift. I am 43 and just found out I am pregnant. It took DH and I almost 2 years and 5 cycles of clomid. I had almost given up hope.
How old are you? If under 35 and trying for over a year get yourself to a GP. I had hormone levels checked, and DH had sperm checked. I wasn't ovulating every cycle, and progesterone levels weren't at the right level at the right time. The clomid regulated that. There is much more chance of success the younger you are - as your eggs will be of better quality.

Have you tried using ovulation predictor kits?
Get a copy of a book by Toni Weschler - the title escapes me, but others here swear by it.

Other things I did - drank grapefruit juice every day up to ovulation (makes better mucous)
Take 1000mg evening primrose oil capsule every day up to ovulation (about 14th day for a 28 day cycle, but this can vary a lot)
Use pre-seed lubricant during intercourse (helps the sperm survive and get through the cervix)

HI everyone thanks for your replies,

VVVVV - yes my periods are regular, they vary between 28 and 32 days.

Edie, yes i am having sex at the right times i hope, i actualy get a pain each month which I think is me ovualting anyway,i have been blighted by cyctitis a few times though which hasnt helped.

Ginerbear, I am 30. have been trying since last sept, and have had 2 m/c so i can actually get pg, seems i have touble staying htat way. Havent used any predicters yet, just trying to get on woth it and let it happen naturally.

Hi swift, a very good friend of mine was in a similar situation - i.e. could get pregnant, but kept miscarrying - sometimes very early on so she didn't even realise she was pregnant. Eventually after 18 months of this, she sought help and the outcome was that she was advised to take low dose aspirin while ttc. She now has a 1 year old and is 6 months pg with the 2nd!!!!

I'm sure there are others on here that know more about this than me, and I wouldn't recommend taking aspirin without seeing your gp first, but just thought I'd mention it.

meysey · 24/09/2006 22:12

swift1 · 24/09/2006 22:20

Hi Swift
I have a dd aged 26 months and took 6 months to conceive our ds who I sadly miscarried at 18 and half weeks. Have been ttc since March with no success. I tried the ttc boards and they are lovely people but I just can't keep up with them. Also posted on ttc after m/c thread until recently but that moves too fast for me too so now i just lurk! My poor brain can't cope with all the info and who's who!
I know i could go to GP as I am over 35 and have been ttc this time for 6 months but I think its just a matter of time as we can get pg I'm just impatient!

swift1 · 27/09/2006 20:36

HI ruthlouise,

yes i cant keep up either, i dont know what a lot of the abbreveations are for so...

I have just bought some ovualtion kits off the internet. I did promise myself I wouldnt get hung up on it , and that it would happen in time, but i just cant help it now. im inpatient too.

Hi Swift1
I too find the organisation of some people on the conception threads quite baffling. I guess we all have to do what suits us. Still, it is nice to know that other people are going through the same thing (even if they deal with it differently). Hope all goes well for you. I am sure that you will get there soon.
