Ovulation and PCOS

We're about to start TTC #2 (for me) DD was an accident, a happy one.

Im a PCOS sufferer with irregular periods so wondered if anyone has any idea how I can track ovulation as apparently the test sticks can be unreliable in PCOS suffers.
All very confusing and don't know where to start

I have PCOS so can sympathise! You could try taking your temperature every day which might help. There's a lot of useful info on the www.tcoyf.com website.

Some people do have success with OPK strips, others don't. I think though really you need to test twice a day to make sure you don't miss the spike, which can get expensive if you have no idea when / if you ovulate.

You might also want to consider acupuncture. I had it when having IVF and I actually ovulated for the first time I know of, which I'm sure was down to the acu and Chinese herbs.

I was advised not to bother with any of that and just try to have enough sex. Grin It is tricky but of there's any pattern you can at least work out a "window" eg day 10-25. Not ideal but there you go.

First time we had to have clomid. I'm pregnant again and it was just lucky. We don't even remember the sex occasion, which we figure is a good sign we were having it enough! Grin

With a PCOS diagnosis I would not advise using anything like OPKS or temp charts as these can be misleading at best and wrong at worst.

I have PCOS but my hormone levels don't appear too bad on blood tests. I've been charting bbt for a while, but they are pretty erratic. There does seem to be a spike every month though. I thought I'd give the Clearblue Advanced Fertility Monitor a go, even though it does state people with PCOS, irregular periods and cycles longer than 42 days shouldn't use it (I range from 26 to 56). But, in my first month I got 2 high days, 2 peaks then 1 more high. So it does seen to be working for me. I guess it is a risky one though. Good lunch whatever you decide Smile

I have PCOS and we were just advised to have sex often. It worked in the end as ds is now 3.9yo! Apparently PCOS can improve after pregnancy and childbirth. Not sure if you've found that to be the case?
