Hello all,

I'm a complete newbie. I am 36 and partner is 33 and we've finally decided to start trying. We've tried for 2 months now. However, I've usually had irregular cycles, can be anything from 23 to 28 days which doesn't particularly worry me. BUT literally the 2 months that I have been trying my cycle was 21 days and this time 19 days!! (I'm still praying it might be implantation bleeding as I'm always light on my 1st day but think I might be TOO heavy and crampy for that and also no other symptoms whatsoever). I know its only a short amount of time but good god it's emotional stuff... I always said I would try and relax with this sort of stuff. I'm just completely confused with my cycle though now...if it were to carry on like this... I'd be ovulating whilst I'm still on my period???? Does this sound right? Should I try to relax a bit more with it before I try the ovulation sticks etc or shall I go the whole hog and get everything??? LOL. I find it bizarre that the chances of someone getting pregnant are really low but yet so many people do with ease (or so it seems). I'm just hoping my age isn't going to creep up on me! Anyway, I'll try and check in soon... thanks for any advice in anticipation!

My second problem is abbreviations... whilst I've guessed a few, I'm still scratching my head with some... is there a guide on here anywhere????

Welcome elkins Smile

Well, 2 months in is very, very early days. If I could ttc for the first time again, I'd say to myself: RELAX, HAVE LOTS OF LOVELY SEX AND relaaaaxxxxxx Grin

Most couples conceive naturally within 12m. Most others after that conceive naturally by 24m; only a small percentage need help.

I wouldn't stress myself out with OPKs (ovulation predictor kits). EWCM (egg white cervical mucous) however, is a key in understanding when you're ovulating: look in your knickers and if your diacharge is clear and stretchy, you're probably ovulating.

It's highly unlikely that you'd ovulate whilst on AF (aunt flow - your period).

Honestly, just relax, have frequent sex (every other day throughout your cycle is the way to go) and you should get up-duffed pretty soon.

Wishing you the best of luck Smile

Ha ha... Thank you very helpful!!! and has put things into much perspective for me!! I think its because I panic about my age and want it to happen quicker... exactly what I wanted to hear though as I begin my TTC journey!! I just hope its a pleasant one! No doubt I'll be back on here at some point asking questions. It's so lovely to find so many people here to talk to and read stuff and realise that its an abolute miracle and that so many people are in the same boat as it were. There's no one other than my partner who knows we are TTC (I'm not awfully keen on talking with friends about it) but we get all the parental and peer pressure of "when are you going to have a baby??" etc. I've put on a few pounds recently too and have been asked twice if I was up the duff!!! Seriously??! lol.

Thanks millions Grin Thanks
