Ovulation pains?

Hi all, I'm on my second cycle after coming off the pill. I believed my first real period began on the 14th aug with a very light bleed, but then by the 20th August I started to get a 'real' red flow that lasted three days so i have NO idea which day was the start of this cycle! So I'm either on cd14 or cd7. Anyway, if you're still with me, I've been getting a side stitch that inhibits me when I walk and run. It's on the right hand side and hurts most when stretching and moving too quickly. I had the same pain in the same place almost 4 weeks ago, and it lasted 4 days. At the time I thought it was to do with the sick was bug that was going around, but now it's back after 4 weeks with headaches and nausea, just as I think my body is adjusting! So, does anyone else experience this every month? If I calculate my cd1 from 14th August then this would tie in with predicted ovulation. If it is, then Mother Nature is very cruel as I don't feel very sexy at all! :-(
Does anyone else get obvious pains and symptoms with ovulating? Thanks- sorry for rambling!

Hi Chick The first time I ovulated after stopping the pill, i had such strong pain in my side I thought I was going to have to go to A&E. It went on for nearly a week - I didn't attribute it to ov at the time - it took nearly 4 months for my body to start cycling properly after stopping bc. I bought a digital clearblue fertility monitor to try and track it, which has been helpful as I believe it's best to dtd before you start getting the pain. (It tells you when..)
The months after I've still had pain, but it's been more like a strong stitch, and is worse if I'm ov'ing from my right ovary - it hurts more if Mr Tee goes a bit too deep (If you catch my drift!)- it lasts about 3-4 days, and I get a headache and attractive bloating... lovely.... So no, in short, not just you! x

Thanks Teejayem. Last month I didn't link it to Ov, but as it's happening again and it's exactly the same sensation, it did make me wonder! And the sensation was definitely stronger DTD! I've been makings notes on it though so I can hopefully track my cycle a bit better each month. Thanks for your response

I have ovulation pain every month. Starts as a bloated, dull ache, with a headache and nausea and progresses to a sharper, constipated, javelin up arse sensation. Joy. Pure joy.

chickadee87 · 28/08/2014 22:15

Ouch snowy that does not sound pleasant! Have you always experienced it like that? Have you been on the pill or other contraceptive that may have hidden the symptoms? I too have been a little more constipated lately which is annoying, and a permanent back ache! Funny how they don't teach this stuff in PSE at school!

Oh yeah, the whole 'ovulation ruins your lower digestive system' part I forgot to add. Constipated, then all the other way, then thinking you might need to poo, but actually your ovary is exploding. Woo-fricking-hoo.

I was going to ask the self same questions as the other respondent to your message.

Ovulation pain should not be like that at all; the reference to "javelin arse" actually made me think that endometriosis could well be a possibility here (endo can cause rectal pain). Cyclical pain that gets worse up to and including menses should be properly checked for by a gynae (not the GP) to ascertain the cause.

Do get this checked.

Having read your earlier message I am wondering about endometriosis as well. Deep pain during sex is very suggestive of endometriosis being present; infact its one of its many symptoms. Cyclical pain like this should always be investigated further and it can cause problems with bowels.

I would keep a diary of pain levels from 1 -10 along with other symptoms as this will give the gynae clues.

I don't have endometriosis or any other gynae issues. I don't suffer constipation, it's just that sort of a feeling iyswim. A bungedup, tight sensation. it's not problematic at all, only lasts a couple of hours and is literally just how ovulation feels to me. It's not even really pain iyswim.
