TTC after Microgynom 10 years!

Ladies,
Am looking for a friend/advice/support
I am 27, 28 in Feb, and my partner and I have been together for nearly 10 years. That entire time I was on Microgynon and we have now decided that we are ready to TTC.
I stopped taking my pill in the middle of June and had my withdrawal bleed as normal on 18th of June. Since then I have had absolutely nothing. Not even a hint of AF.
I have been trying not to obsess as the ideal was that we would just stop trying not to have a baby and see how things went, but I have taken several HPTs now and all BFN So I have to say that now, nearly 10 weeks later frustration doesn't really cover it.
I am now not so much concerned about getting pregnant straight away but more about just what is going on with my body.
Am I even ovulating? How long is long enough to wait before seeing a GP? Am I just going to be told it can take a while for these things to return to normal and be told to wait another 3 months?
Before I went on the pill my periods had always been regular and around 28/30 days, the only reason I went on them was to avoid pregnancy so as far as I was aware I had no underlying issues but now I'm starting to worry that maybe I do?
I just feel that for the first time in my life my body 'isn't working' properly and is totally letting me down. My OH tells me not to panic, and my Mum also says that same thing, but both think I should get checked out. I have arranged an appointment for exactly 3 months after I stopped taking the pill to ensure I have an appointment if nothing has happened by then.
Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing? Did you go on to conceive naturally or did the GP have to help in some way.
Any advice/support would be greatly appreciated as although I am trying to remain calm as I am sure you can understand it is playing on my mind. Doesn't help that one of my best friends and sister are now due with the 2nds and both were not even trying.
Thank you Ladies

Hi littlem, yes I've been in the same boat..story first then some encouragement :)

Had to stop Microgynon in Nov 2012 after 10 years, not because we were TTC but because GP thought I got migraines from it (not true btw). Went on Cerazette for a few months and stopped in April 2013 as we started to think about TTC. Got period after 4 weeks and then every 28 days like clockwork. They were quite light and not painful but I didn't think much of it as my 'periods' on Microgynon had been very light for so long. Then in November 2013 period was late and I thought maybe maybe maybe we had managed to time everything alright! For two weeks I started to get cramps, pinches, twinges etc, and then BAM - full blown period with cramps. I suddenly realised that this is what it used to be like before I went on the pill as a teenager all those years ago.

Basically, what I think happened was that for the first 6-7 months I did not ovulate at all, my body just kept going as it had for the past 10 years (obviously the few months on Cerazette didn't help either, horrible stuff). Then something clicked and it all started again. From then onwards I've been getting normal periods, they've been quite irregular 27-39 days, but seem to have settled back into about 28 days for the past couple of months and we are now actively TTC again :)

You are right about the doctors, all they will tell you is to wait and see. You can however ask them to do some hormone testing, to make sure your levels are normal, but then again, they might not be yet as its only been a couple of months since you came off the pill. If you go and claim you have some mild PCOS symptoms, they might also refer you to do a scan of your ovaries, if that would give you peace of mind.

BUT...I really think it might just take some time. I know its not easy, I've been there and done the panic bit.. Try to remember what your periods were like before Microgynon. Cramps, symptoms, heaviness, pms, etc etc, this is basically what you want to happen, this means you're back to normal. I started writing everything down so i could refer back to it, like symptom spotting but for periods rather than a bfp :)

finger crossed for you hun!

xx

oh forgot to say, I'm not pregnant yet, but I know it will happen sooner rather than later, can just feel it! Its amazing when you feel your body working like it should again (and scary how I could ever forget it..) It will happen for you too, I'm sure of it!
