Would taking cerazette help regulate my cycle?

I'm willing to try anything really. I have cerazette in the cupboard, should I take it for a month or two to see of my cycle sorts out? DH and me are not in a rush to ttc really, rather get my cycle sorted first.

I'm on cd34 now of my craziest cycle to date - bfns everyday, negative ovulation tests, no af...

(As you may know I was on depo, last shot was April 2013 first period after depo was June 2014 and very light, 29 days later I got period number 2.)

So what do you think? Sorry, I know I waffle on a bit a lot.

My cycle before depo was every 29 days like clockwork.

Disclaimer - I'm not a medical expert, but I don't think taking cerazette would do anything for the regularity of your cycle. Basically it will stop you actually ovulating and then you'll start again once you stop taking it.

Have you tried progesterone cream ? If you google it, it's meant to help with menstrual cycles. I tried it for a bit but had other problems which meant it didn't help with with ttc.

I don't think cerazette would regulate your cycle. I've been in it a year and my cycles are anywhere between 35 and 45 days long.

The combined pill is better for giving a predictable cycle IME.

It would probably be better to see your GP.

I don't know about most of what you've said but I found having to take Cerazette whilst I was breastfeeding the most irritating thing as it sent my cycle completely up the wall. I literally had no idea when it would come or how long it would last. I was so relieved to be able to go back on Microgynon.

CherryPie3 · 25/08/2014 17:13

Thank you for your replies.

I wish I could have microgynon, that's what I was on pre-children 10years ago. I'm too heavy for it at the moment unfortunately.

I did see my gp about it but as soon as she heard the words 'depo provera' she clammed up and said "oh you'll just have to wait" :( She's the family planning expert in the practice too so if I ask anyone else they tell me to see her! Frustrating really.

I'll have a look into progesterone cream though, thank you :)

Also another thing about Cerazette (which actually I love as I have endometriosis and due to continuous Cerazette have been symptom free for 2+ years) is that it can take a long time after stopping before your periods come back, it took me a good couple of months.

CherryPie3 · 25/08/2014 17:26

Oh I didn't know that, thank you for telling me.

The rational thing to do is probably just wait it out for af, I've had 2 so surely another must be on the way?

I'm just so darn impatient Grin

If you are too heavy for microgynon, you may be advised to take two cerazette for it to be affective.

You really need to see a doctor first.

IME, cerazette either stops your periods or gives you a small period whenever the duck it feels like it.

The doctor who prescribed me cerazette (2 months ago when my coil disappeared, spoke to her about my cycle then) said just to take 1 a day.

I just haven't gotten around to taking any yet. It was my coils disappearing act that prompted the ttc talk, which is why I didn't take any pills. Officially we weren't ttc but not preventing either iyswim.
