Hello

I've been TTC #2 since January. I thought my cycles had settled into a regular 33 day pattern. In July I started using clearblue OPK. The first month I tried it I found I ovulated later than I thought, day 21, but then I got my period just 8 days later. Then the same has happened this month, with just 8-9 days luteal phase. I know it's only two months but its concerning me a bit.

I know there's no point going to the doctor until its happened a few more times. Just wondered how many cycles people waited before going to GP about short LP?

I've heard about vitamin B6, is thre any real quality evidence other than anecdotes about it working?

What are your experiences?

I'd especially like to hear positives!

I had a short luteal phase (7 days at its worst). To be honest my GP didn't have a clue about them. Luckily, I managed to get her to refer me to a fertility specialist who did recognise the problem. Although some people doing have success with alternative remedies, none of them worked for me and bit took Clomid to conceive, which worked first time. DS is now 10 months.

By the way, there is a thread on here somewhere called "short luteal phase gang" or something. Might be worth a read. I'd do a search as it might be old.

B6 helped me, but that was immediately after a MC, so things might have sorted themselves out anyway. A friend had a short LP and had progesterone from a specialist, and got her BFP within a couple of months. TBH a gp probably won't refer you anyway till you have been trying a year. If you have the cash you could go privately, or wait the year for an NHS referral. In the mean time I would start bbt charting, as the charts are good evidence to take to the gp and to the specialist.
