this will sound really stupid but I just can't get to grips with cycle lengths, I start my period on the 30th
of every month, does this make my cycle 30 or 31 days long?

and does a 28 day cycle mean you start your period a different day each month? for example:

if I started my period on 1st january, would my next period start on 27th feb, and my next 23rd march? and so on..

p.s some websites say to count your cycle you start counting the day the bleeding starts and finish counting the day before you next bleed, others say count the day you next start bleeding!? hellllppp

Cycle day 1 (cd1) is the first day of your period. Count upwards to the day before your next period to get cycle length.

Starting period on the 30th of every month would be very unusual as this means your cycle varies between 28-31 days in the exact same pattern as the months do.

And so yes, someone with a 28 day cycle starts the period every 4 weeks, nothing to do with the actual calendar date

oh this makes sense now, do you count from day 1 to the day before your next period or do you count the day you start your next period aswell? (sorry for all thw questions)

Circle on your calendar or diary the first day of your period. Do this for three or four cycles and then evaluate your cycle length.
