when I heard that it can take on average 14 months to conceive after the depo I didnt go for my 3rd shot.. I noticed 90% of the stories online about comming off were negative and worried me alot thinking I might become infertile/not get AF for years ect.. so that got me down alot.. so here's a positive story..

I had two shots of depo, didn't have one period or any bleeding whatsoever, no weight gain, no cramps.. when I decided to come off I felt perfectly fine apart from having major oily skin and spots.. but I was due my 3rd injection 7 weeks ago and three days ago I got my first AF, not too heavy, and I feel so relieved as I was terrified about all these horror stories online. .

I wouldnt go back on the depo just incase next time I wasnt so lucky (personally I think the health care provider should inform you how long it can take to conceive after the shot runs out) I hope my fertility doesnt take too long to get back to normal, wishing you all happy baby making!

I started on the deep i think about feb 2013 was due another depo February 2014, didn't take it, went on the pill early march after I'd had a period, finished a sheet early June started ttc after withdrawal bleed week. am now pregnant, last period July 7th.

Was taking TTC his and her tablets (with DH not all by myself!) and DTD every other day from end of period till day after estimated ovulation day.

It can happen quickly, hold onto hope!

I stopped Depo in May 2014 after being on it for 5 years. I unfortunately did suffer from weight gain and no periods at all for 5 years (which was bliss at the time). Now, 3 months on, I haven't had any signs of AF and my OH and I want to start TTC.

I wasn't told about the bone thinning when I went on it either, and only found out this year when a new doctor saw me and told me if I wanted to continue it i'd need a bone scan!

I wouldn't advise it as a form of contraception to people. If you want long term or can't take the pill (which I couldn't) then I'd recommend the implant. It affects you a lot less.
