Really confused - where is AF or BFP?!

Hi all,

I'm really quite confused and stressed right now. A quick background - DH and I have been ttc #2 for 10 months now. I saw the Dr a month ago as I was experiencing a long cycle (70 days) and had had a few irregular cycles that were concerning me. He decided to run the bloods trying to identify if I ovulate. I had a blood test on day 21 and that confirmed that I did ovulate, I also got a +opk on CD17. On CD23 I woke up with some quite unpleasant cramping similar to period pains and these have come and gone from that day to now (CD32). I was so sure I was pregnant but I have done plenty of tests and they are all negative.

I can accept not being pregnant and move on to another month. I am not symptom spotting and looking for pregnancy symptoms but these cramps are really concerning me. Sometimes they can be sharp pains that last a few minutes. I have never had particularly bad period pains, and I didn't experience anything like this with my first pregnancy. I'm just wondering if this could be something else and maybe there is something wrong. I don't want to keep hoping for a BFP if it isn't coming. I thought that if you ovulate then you had to get AF or get pregnant but after much googling apparently this may not be true. So now I am confused.

Should I be worried about these cramps for so long?

TIA

Hello, a couple of years ago I has really bad cramp pains like the ones you are describing, and they turned out to be from a couple of cysts. Maybe worth having a scan if the pain continues? Good luck and hope you get your BFP soon xx Thanks

Thank you so much for replying. I googled it and had a little cry of relief. I have most of those symptoms and had hoped they were pregnancy symptoms. I even have the backache that isn't listed as a symptom apart from in the comments where everyone seems to say they get that too.

That has really put my mind at rest as it seems to fit quite well and doesn't seem too severe. I am going on holiday on Sunday but will be sure to make an appointment with the doctor when I get back armed with this new information.

Thank you so much, I feel a lot less worried now. x

You're more than welcome - it's so scary not knowing what's wrong with you! Cysts are totally harmless and usually just go on their own, though you might want to get prescribed some stronger painkillers. Send me a private message if you need any more info, have a great holiday xxx
