Anyone else about to take the plunge and stop bc pills?

Ive read another thread with interest about ttc after the pill & saw that a couple of posters were about to stop their bc pills so thought a new thread might be in order!
Im getting married in August & currently finishing my last packet of Yasmin. Excited & nervous all at the same time!

So who's with me?

Hey freedom - just want to give you a virtual hug. Are you still DTD just in case each month? Got to be worth a try. And I wonder if it is worth paying for the private test given your extra circumstances?

We are now in our 2ww, but as I said before, work kind of got in the way this month so not holding out much hope. I don't have any symptoms. Although we did try conceive plus lube.

Am now in a bit of a dilemma about whether to try next month. We get to the point where the due date would collide with three of my best friend's weddings (who are all getting married in the space of a couple of months). We don't want to stop - especially as nothing has happened this far - but equally I don't want to miss their special days. I am also due to be bridesmaid at one. Sigh.

How are all you other ladies doing? Any news? Anyone coming up to testing / AF due? Surely it must be nearly time for one of us to get a BFP?

Hi all, hope I'm ok to join.
I took my last pill on Sunday, it's weird we've been waiting a year and a half to get to this point and now I'm terrified!
Just waiting for my last withdrawal bleed then I'll get using the ovia app.
DH seems to think this will all go to plan and next month we will have a bfp! Keep telling him I may not even have a af for a few months (been on pill for 8+ years) but he just tells me it'll be fine.
Currently reading what to expect before you're expecting secretly, as we don't want anyone to know we're trying in case it takes a while, it's hard when people keep asking though

Thinking of ordering the pregnacare his and hers conception vitamins, has anyone used them or have any other suggestions?

Thanks for the hug justreally needed it. As for private test talked to DH and he wants me to do itbut I want to wait 1 more month. We are on holiday in 3 weeks so will decide once we get back.

Yup still DTD just in case but not hopeful.

Welcome dreaming I am taking vitamins its best to start now so the folic acid in there just in case. I also hear vitamin B which is in the pre concept helps.

Been on yasmin for 3 years and no AF sunce withdrawal bleed in May but everyone is different so just go with the flow.

Ladies I've been watching a program called Nine Months on Sky. Its really good. Really puts things in a real life perspective. Couples are very open and honest. Worth a watch.

Morning all, just a quick update: one week post the pill, no AF but have been dtd which I guess is all I can do...already feel like I am battling the crazy-symptom-spotter that lives inside me as I appreciate this could be a long game...

Any symptom spotting going on for anyone else?

i can test as of Monday but don't think we've been successful this month. I don't feel at all different and annoyingly my bbt peaked while i was on a work trip earlier this wk so think i may have miscalculated my ovulation date and missed the chance to conceive :(

Morning all, frustrated .com here. Cycle 3 off pill. Cycle 1 51 days, cycle 2 25 days, cycle 3 28 days today and still counting!! Have poas and bfn. Got ewcm on cd 26 and cd23. Think body still very much up spout after pill which I know isn't incoming but is very very annoying. Have cbfm for when af puts in appearance but nothing to do but dtd eod till then.

Anyone else frustrated .com?

Sorry to hear that Katy, that is frustrating, I am a few months behind you, I have read it can take 3 months to get back to normal. Have you got an approachable GP?

Thanks catnip. Next chapter I went to gp before coming off pill much to my now annoyance he didn't mention this!! Went back on day 47 cycle 1 and a different gp said the same it can take 'a while' but wasn't more specific. Grrrrrrr

Hope it's ok to join this group as we are going to start trying at the end of Sept once back from holiday. I'm currently taking micronor and want to stop taking it around the last week of September...it's been really helpful to hear all your stories and lots of you sound in a similar mindset to me that once i stop my pill after 15 years on it I really want to conceive as soon as possible! I'm 31 now, been married 4 years and will be finished with my studies soon ready for my career. I've been taking folic acid and vitamin D for over three months now on my GP advice...do your partners take anything eg vitamins etc? Exciting but daunting times ahead!!!

Hi ladies, can I join in and ask a question? I stopped my BC around. 3 weeks ago, had my withdrawal bleed as expected and am now kinda of treating this like a normal month (being a bit unrealistic I know) I started using opk sticks for the last 3 days, on the basis of a 28 day cycle. The control windows is fine but not a screed in the test window. I know I'm obviously not ovulating but I'm confused as to whether it should show some trace? I really thought I wouldn't get this obsessed this quickly! For the first time this year time is dragging, would love to see AF so I'd know my body was my own again. I'm ttc #3 and I'm nearly 40, only allowed myself a 6-7 month try window then I'm accepting it's not meant to be. So sorry for the ridiculous post, just driving myself mad with questions

In terms of vitamins, my DH & I are taking pregnacare preconception, I am not taking a separate vit d, but would start to if I fell pregnant.

Sorry I can't help with ovulation sticks have not used them before - I am also waiting for AF, I do think that I ovulated last week though, so we obviously started to dtd, as I asked on here & was reminded you ovulate before you have AF so I guess all we can do is DTD & wait for AF. Some people do fall before AF, so fingers crossed.

For everyone else: you may have read this already, but having read some posts on this thread about long cycles & waiting for AF I read that Agnus Castus can help return hormones/AF to normal although I am not an expert just something I have read but willing to try if AF takes ages.

Thanks Nextchapter, I think I will look at those vitamins, hubby normally takes multivitamins anyway but maybe the conception specific ones are better...I'm quite confused about the withdrawal bleed and ovulations so I'm not sure when to stop my mini pill as I take it every day - any advice? Hi everyone, just had to come back and let you know that I just got a BFP

Have had absolutely no symptoms, and had really written this month off as you already know. I even drank last night

I only did a FR test kind of on a whim, after a prompt from the Ovia app. It came up straightaway with two bright pink lines.

My husband is elated and I am kind of shell shocked. Despite always envisaging having a family, it feels very strange to know it might finally be happening (keeping in mind that there is always the chance of a chemical pregnancy or miscarriage. I am determined we won't take anything for granted! Argh!! Oh my goodness! What have we done?!?!

Well done just you. Quick q for all u lovely ladies does anyone take anything to try to regulate their cycles? Have read and angus castus and dong quai to regulate cycles? I'm trying to do some research but there is a lot of conflicting info so wondered if anyone had experience?

Thanks nextchapter, I still can't quite believe it! Have now done two FR tests (both positive) and have just bought a clear blue digital. Feels strange not having any symptoms.

I think this means the baby will be due around the 3rd/4th May - a month before bridesmaid duties

Also have at least another two best friend weddings around the same time. Not quite sure how we are going to manage all that as yet!!

I do recommend the conceive plus lube to anyone getting impatient. I don't know if that is what did the trick but there seems lots of people who get pregnant first time using it (and we only used it twice)...

Hey Katybear, sorry didn't mean to miss your message! Not sure I can help with specific advice, I didn't use anything to help regulate but it did take a few months to get back into a regular pattern...

Congratulations! Wonderful news, hope there are many more of us on here in the same position soon! I think I'll finish my mini pill at the end if this pack as it around the end of the month and try the lube...haven't heard of that before so thanks for the tip. Just want these few weeks to fly by in one way so we can start trying but it will be hard to keep it under wraps as I want to cut out drinking as much as possible and all our friend and family are eagerly waiting for us to get pregnant! How are you all doing keeping trying a secret?

Thanks Lovebugs! We have kept it fairly low key. I decided not to cut out alcohol while we were trying. Haven't said anything to family but have told three close friends who each asked me directly one-on-one. Have laughed off any other questions with 'oh no! We're not ready for that just yet!'

Not sure how we are going to keep it secret until the scan. I think taking a holiday might be a useful distraction!
