Coil questions.... gearing up to ttc?

Hi all, I'm not ready to actively start ttc, but I have polycystic ovaries and irregular periods. My DS I'd 17months old, and he was a surprise, so the ttc journey is all new to me.

I'm wondering whether it might be beneficial for me to start period tracking or maybe opk charting early so that I have something to work with when we do go for it?

It won't be this year, I dream of it being from Xmas but I imagine oh would like to wait longer.

How does having a coil effect ovulation? Am I likely to find that having my coil removed would just screw up my periods if they end up in a pattern?

I'm just a bit worried about waiting too long, as I wonder how long it would take us to conceive.

Thanks in advance if anyone has any advice/info! Xxx

Im a fellow PCOS suffering also with a surprise child.
Im not 100% on ovulation with the coil but that could depend on type of coil you have.
When I had the mirena everything was all over the shop.
Personally I'd have it removed (and use condoms) and then begin to chart.
About all I can offer but didn't want to read and run.
Good Luck

I had the Mirena and continued to have regular periods the whole time it was in. They were extremely, extremely light and lasted about 2 days, it was heaven compared to my pre-coil periods!

The Mirena isn't designed to effect ovulation but it does happen to some women.

I had my Coil removed for TTC purposes and I was pregnant within 6 weeks Smile

Hi there, I had my copper coil (not mirena) removed in March and my periods have still been regular ever since...but much lighter, halleluia!! Although I will say my boobs have been really sore for 2 weeks before my AF which never used to happen?
I've also ovulated in April/May, no BFP unfortunately though!

I'd advise removing the coil, especially if its Mirena, so that your periods are on a natural cycle....
Good luck! :-)

Ah thanks ladies, should have said its the copper coil! I am terrified of removing it as I want to be 100% sure the next baby is planned and I'm SO not ready yet! Maybe towards the end of the year!
