I was going to post a similar thread! My 2nd shot has just "run out" but I'm still bf (though rarely at night). So following. Hope it's quick for you.

I was on the depo for 10 years been off it 2 years took 6 months to get AF and been trying to conceive for 15 months.

Im sure its the depos fault but doctors ignore me!

I was on the depo almost 10 years. Came off it thinking I would be ttc in the next few years (so planned on giving my body some time to get back to normal as my periods stopped after the first injection). 3 or so months later I found out I was pregnant. We knew we didnt want a huge gap before having our next child so after the birth of our ds I had the injection again (pill makes me sick and never considered the coil before). The plan was to stay on it a year (was actually 9 months) and then ttc number 2. Stupidly I just thought it would just work out the same as before and I would fall pregnant straightaway- probably easier because I'd been on it less than a year and not 10 years as before. My last injection was the January, I started using opks and recording my temperature early summer time as I still wasn't having a period and I didn't ovulate until the December. I then fell pregnant again in August of the next year. Needless to say I don't intend to use the depo ever again. Good luck Smile

Me to janes they also let me on it when I was 14 and ive read that no one should be on it more than a couple of years and definitely not to young due to high chance of osteoporosis

ilovepowerhoop · 17/05/2014 10:24

www.netdoctor.co.uk/sex-and-relationships/medicines/depo-provera.html - says most women start to ovulate 5-6 months after the last injection but may not conceive for 10-15 months after it (or longer).

I had 2 injections but weight gain and constant bleeding made me stop getting any more.

HungryHorace · 17/05/2014 10:47

I had my last injection in December, went on the pill in Feb, until May, then got my BFP mid-October, almost exactly 10 months after my last jab. I think I started OVing in the June, so I was bang on their averages.

I'd been on it for most of the preceding 10.5 years. I'd been referred for a bone scan, but as I came off it was told not to worry. Once I've had this baby I'll go back onto it at my 6 week check up.

Everyone is different and is affected differently by it.

janesxx · 17/05/2014 14:09

ah, quite concerned now because I was hoping to be pregnant and have had the baby by next Christmas.. took me ages to get pregnant with DS about 1 year (not on any contraception).. just hope im not waiting for ages

If you take 10 months to get pregnant from the date of your last injection you'll manage that easily. It may not take that long.

Good luck.

persepolis123 · 19/05/2014 12:13

I have known women who only had a couple of depo shots who went on to get pregnant in a few months.

I was on depo for a few years. It took six months for my periods to return then when we started trying it took another 11 months to conceive DS. Nobody explained it could take so long and it's the reason I didn't go back on it after DS. We are now ttc #2 and hoping it won't take as long this time.

I would take it again but not until I'm sure our family is complete. Bad that women are not being given the full facts beforehand so they can make an informed decision.

I know its rediculous that they dont inform some people, we have a right to know that it may take some time after for our bodies to return to normal
