Well hellooo... I'm in the pre pre TTC stage... gotta lose a chunk of weight before I even think about doing any kind of tango... horizontal or otherwise. IykwIm?

I'm just over 15 stone a nd about 5 feet 5 inches. Anyone got any tips or well... anything?? Should I even bother?

I think its personal choice, it does unfortunately come down to bmi though...if you have a high bmi, you can loose the option of midwife lead unit for delivery & I think more likely to have gestational diabetes.

I think you need to be comfortable - I anticipate putting 2-3 stone on & don't fancy being uncomfy/unable to get out of bed.

Whatever you do, do it sensibly though, I hate to hear of starvation diets xx

Ooh, GrumpyMoo, I'm in the same position and a v similar weight/height. I really do want to lose some weight before TTC number 2 as I had a variety of issues when in labour with my ds. None of which were caused by being overweight at all, but being heavier/less fit did not help me during labour.

In some areas having a BMI over 35 (or similar figure depending on your area) can mean consultant led care and being denied the use of midwife only facilities. Scans can be less clear (and there is the slight embarrassment of the sonographer writing "view impaired by maternal obesity" on your notes!), so they might not be able to easily spot any issues, having to do repeat scans or faff about trying to shift you around so they can see.

I would concentrate on getting fitter, with weightloss as a side effect, rather than just losing weight per se. I had a very long labour and I do think it would have helped to have been fitter. Also the last few weeks of pregnancy were horrible as I had massively swollen feet all the time and I just felt ginormous.

Aww thanks guys! Wasn't sure anyone else here would be around to look at my post!

More pertinent info... which I'd'a added last night but was far too tired to think straight headed virtuously to bed for my straight 8...

I'm nearly 38, have 3 dcs (13yo, 16yo, 18yo) but on the plus side Grin I eat healthily, I already have a fairly good fitness regime and I'm motivated!

In my other pregnancies I was much bigger than I am now (almost 18 stone at one point) ... though I was MUCH younger then... I still have probs with my lower back (thx DS) and with my hips (thx dd1) but hoping that losing weight will help there too. Not mentioning anything to with the embarrasment when sneezes.

My loose plan mad idea is to lose weight down to about 12 stone and get super fit tummy muscles to prevent any more stretching than I already have! It's like a map of the Tube!
