Conception

How long can it take to fertilise, implant and brew some hcg?

Basically the title really.

I ov'd around 26/27 I believe
Period was due the 11th..
I believe/think I am getting very faint pos tests (faint, squinting involved, and light lol) ... and its 18dpo for me.

I have read online it can take up to 12 days to travel into the womb, 5 days to implant and 4 days to build hcg - obviously a lot less for some - but this could explain my faint lines? no? Is this even possible, or another internet lie? :/

I think ANYTHING is possible. I know that's not vaguely helpful, sorry!!

I think there is quite a wide possible range, but that most late implantations (e.g. 12 days or more after ovulation) don't work out unfortunately. I've had a couple of v. early losses as well as a successful pregnancy and the difference between them was that with the early losses I got a positive that only showed up faintly quite late in the day (day 16 or 17) whereas the successful pregnancy got a clear positive much earlier (about day 11). If you're fairly sure of when you ovulated and your period is late and you're getting faint lines on a pregnancy test I would feel pretty confident that you have conceived (which is useful to know in itself - confirms you are ovulating, that your partner is fertile etc) but to be honest I would prepare myself to lose it. But of course you might not!

Sorry not to be more upbeat - after I had the two early losses in succession I did some reading about the stats around late implantation. But of course there are always exceptions and you might be one!

Here is a calculator to work out HCG levels:

Not sure how helpful it is though, as you won't know your initial HCG levels, but at least you could work out the range of possible dates that test should be showing.

Fingers crossed for you.

Sorry to hear that penguin. The month this happened to me - with similar timings to you - I got pregnant again very quickly.
