Hello . I'm starting short protocol ICSI in about 3 weeks at a private FC. It's our first cycle so could do with some hand holding. Mind if I join?
Oh and I'm getting married and going on honeymoon before the cycle starts. Busy times! Will have a read back and try to catch up with everyone's situation.

AnnieHoo · 06/08/2014 21:42

Hi HappyLass I'm new to IVF too so will be right here with you. Wowee you have a lot going on!!!. Lots of lovely distractions for you Smile. I have an appointment next week for scan + catheter test + meds. Just waiting on virology results before starting pill.

happylass · 06/08/2014 23:37

Hi Annie. Great to know there's someone else starting out at the same time. Are you doing short or long protocol?

AnnieHoo · 07/08/2014 09:17

My clinic want me on long protocol as I live far from the clinic so they have more control. I will stay with family down near the clinic for two weeks so I'm available for scans ec and et.

This is the tricky part because I'm due to start a new job so don't want to have to tell new boss I'm doing IVF but I've got to ask for 2 weeks off with vague dates in September. If only I could tell him the truth!

Are you ready to start? How are you feeling?

Smidge001 · 08/08/2014 00:39

Hi there,

trying how many days post transfer are you now, and how dark is the line? I am 6dp5dt and have been too scared to poas so far. My blood test is on Weds 13th. 5 more days!! I was thinking I might do a hpt on Sunday but I'm drinking so much water at the moment I reckon my wee will be so diluted I'm bound to get a negative. (on crinone pessaries and been told to drink 2-3L of water per day. That's on top of a couple of cups of decaf tea, and the milk in the obligatory bowl of all bran each morning to help prevent constipation!)

I don't want to find out it's a negative over the phone from the nurses though (hubby will be at work) so hence thinking about testing at home. (But still too scared to do it yet!)
Have no symptoms hence lack of confidence in a positive, though I know that doesn't really mean anything.

We didn't get any other blasts for freezing, so really hoping this little one has set up home.

Tryingandimpatient · 09/08/2014 13:32

Hi Smidge,

How are you? The 2ww is awful lol I know how you feel!!

I got my first positive 8dp5dt but it was super faint!!! Then tested each day and it is steadily darker till today when it reached same strength as control line (11dp5dt). I wouldn't suggest checking much before then as it is likely to be neg even if it's positive... The hcg level needs to be high enough to resister.

I have no symptoms really either except slightly sore boobs (could be down to progesterone though) and am a bit tired.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!!! Remember it's exciting as well as scary!!

Trying xxxx

Tryingandimpatient · 09/08/2014 13:33

Hi Stars,

Thank you!! I'm really happy!! And what is an OTD??

Xxx

Smidge001 · 10/08/2014 02:41

Thanks trying. I still haven't dared test, but actually on recounting I see I'm still only 8dp5dt, (feels longer!) so was thinking of trying in 2 days time. Will be the day before my blood test (perhaps that is what stars means by OTD? I've not seen those initials though either).

Glad to hear you don't really have any symptoms as neither do I. Though having said that I had a major upset outburst at my husband this morning, but (a) it was justified (he went out for a coffee when I asked him to pick up some wine for the casserole I was in the process of making for his family who were about to turn up any second for lunch! So I was left trying to entertain them, and cook, and without the wine I needed for the sauce while he was M.I.A! (B) might just be PMT of course.

I'd love to think it's a result of my hormones for being pregnant though!! (And I'd definitely forgive him if that's the case Smile)

Smidge001 · 10/08/2014 02:41

Oh and congratulations!! You must be so excited!

Tryingandimpatient · 10/08/2014 09:04

Thanks Smidge

I am very excited!! It been a looooong time trying and last attempt failed so didn't have overly high expectations this time lol!!

Just a quick recommendation I used FRER tests when I got my positive used a blue dye brand on same day and it was still neg when the pink dye showed positive so think they are more accurate.... In fact took another two days for the blue to show positive!

Good luck

Smidge001 · 10/08/2014 11:29

Thanks for the tip trying. I'm in Australia (hubby is an Australian) and I haven't seen first response anywhere. (Though I haven't tried particularly hard yet as I've always ended up spotting before my period is due so I've never got to the stage of thinking i might be). What I have is Pregnosis, which claims to be an early testing stick so hopefully the equivalent. Definitely claims you can test a few days before your period is due, but I'll hold out a bit longer still I think, clinging on to hope for as long as poss! Felt a bit nauseous in the car today but that might just have been the result of eating two pieces of cake combined with hubby's driving Wink. Clutching at straws of course!

starsandmoonandback · 10/08/2014 12:12

Sorry OTD means Official Test Day!

Glad all is still well Trying Smile

Smidge. Wishing you luck x

Tryingandimpatient · 10/08/2014 20:44

Ahhh thanks stars OTD today ?? .... Hcg level was 151 (it was 62 on thurs) so all looking good .... Need to book a six week scan to check for heartbeat .... Fingers crossed it all goes ok ??

How is everyone else getting on??

Xxx

AnnieHoo · 10/08/2014 21:52

Fab news Trying fx that HCG goes up and up Smile!

I've had a similar journey to you, 2 years TTC, 2 mmc and 5 months of Clomid. I'm nervous about starting IVF, mostly the emotional strain of it all. The Clomid really took the life out of me.

Smidge001 · 11/08/2014 09:35

Seems this progesterone hasn't fully prevented my usual pre-period spotting Sad. I think I'm going to bring forward the poas to tonight when hubby gets home from work. Was really stressed and upset last night which I think now was AF mixed with progesterone side effects. I know first morning urine is the best option but I don't think I want to ind out then have my OH head off to work Sad

Will let you know

Tryingandimpatient · 11/08/2014 11:39

Hey,

Try not to think the worst spotting can be all sorts of things.... Are you on crinone gel? That can cause spotting as can implantation so don't worry till you test and good luck with it this afternoon hope you get your BFP!! Xxxx

Smidge001 · 11/08/2014 12:38

Thanks trying but the hpt has come back with a resounding negative Sad. I am on crinone, but it hasn't caused any spotting in the past 10 days or so that I've been using it and I just knew it was my usual. I'm supposed to stay on it til the official test which seems a bit daft but I'll do as I'm told. Will have to see what they say our next options are.

Tryingandimpatient · 11/08/2014 14:52

It's still early though so wait for beta hcg ... It's not def yet xxxxx

Twinklestar2 · 12/08/2014 17:10

Dear all

I was an egg buddy last year and had my baby boy yesterday, 3 years and 1 day to the day that we started trying and from my frozen cycle.

Just wanted to thank you all for your invaluable support last year, this thread really helped me.

So so happy!!

starsandmoonandback · 12/08/2014 18:56

Twinkle, oh how lovely. Great to hear your news. You deserve to be so happy and welcome to your little boy. SmileSmile

starsandmoonandback · 12/08/2014 19:07

Smidge, what days past transfer or ovulation are you? Crinone gel doesn't cause spotting instantly, but it's a build up I think. It irritates things Shock I hope it isn't af hun. Xxx

Smidge001 · 13/08/2014 02:39

Hi there. I had the official blood test this morning and they have confirmed that it's a negative. Sad

The doctor is supposed to call me today/tomorrow to talk about next steps/whether they'd do anything differently etc. though given they monitor hormone levels throughout the process and can up doses if they need to, I suspect she'll just say it's just bad luck and she wouldn't do anything differently next time. Just scared coz we only got 1 blastocyst from 10 eggs. What if next time we only get 7 eggs... Or fewer.. So many things can go wrong in the process, I don't think I realised this before we embarked on it. I kind of (naively) just banked on IVF being the fall back plan!

Will report back when I hear more. FYI did the hpt on day 9.5 post 5dt. So 14.5 days po. BFN. Blood test was 11dp5dt and confirmed it.
