Hi,

New on here and would really appreciate some advice, support or guidance!

34 years old, been trying for 2.5 years. PCOS diagnosed years ago, but through supplements and diet usually maintain 5-6 week cycle, and my scans have shown than I ovulate "enough" apparently.

My laparoscopy and hysteroscopy showed nothing other than I only have one fallopian tube! Which is rare, an will reduce my chances a little further but should still be able to conceive apparently.

We were really hoping an expecting that the next stage would be clomid as friends had had success on this, however my consultant told me that it doesn't work, and is proven to not work, and he would only put me on it in conjunction with IUI, which isn't funded on the NHS, so we've been referred to his private clinic, which we simply can't afford.

In the meantime we wait on the one round of IVF on the NHS that we'll hopefully get approved funding for.

So other than that I feel left in limbo and let down a bit - do you think it's worth me going back to my GP and request clomid or metformin again? I was told no before and referred to the consultant, who's now also said no.

Thanks

Sounds fairly unusual to be refused Clomid schween. I too have PCOS and have been given it pretty much without any questions asked on two occasions. I thought they gave it out like it was sweeties! You are entitled to a second consultant opinion so you could ask for that and see what someone else thinks.

A good alternative might be Reflexology but make sure they are properly qualified and Maternity trained - go onto the Association of Reflexologists website www.aor.org.uk (I think) and use their 'find a Reflexologist' button to make sure you get someone with proper qualifications, not a beauty therapist who's done a day on it as they won't have the knowledge of maternity/conception treatment.
