Stopping TTC for this month in fear of an Christmas baby?

OrchidFlakes · 05/04/2014 10:03

I'm in two minds whether to take a month off trying in case we get a Christmas baby or just go with it and see what happens?

I have a good friend with a Christmas Eve birthday and he hates it passionately as I think his siblings do secretly, although this is just one view point it's made me pause.

Anyone else thinking similarly or and I being nuts Wink

orchid I felt the same. My DH has a dec birthday and I hate it BUT I've been trying for 15months now and I wouldn't give up any minths now. Good luck whatever you decide!

WhatsTheWordHummingbird · 05/04/2014 10:17

I never considered birth date when ttc. I just wanted a baby. Dds birthday is 19th december and if id waited a month I wouldnt have her Grin

WhatsTheWordHummingbird · 05/04/2014 10:17

Should add a friends twins were due end of Jan amd they arribed the day before dd.

bellaboo88 · 05/04/2014 10:21

Hey, I've given up this month, my cycle starts soon so will try again...if its January, we still might end up with a Christmas baby but one month off is enough x

WestmorlandSausage · 05/04/2014 10:28

surely it would only be if you conceived RIGHT NOW there would be any risk of a due date being around Christmas. The rest of the month of April you would be looking at a baby due in January?

Cupcake92 · 05/04/2014 11:11

I kept thinking about this but it's our 1st month ttc so we are just going with it. If I do conceive my due date should be Christmas Day lol!! But my 1st baby I had to be induced so I keep thinking if I do conceive and baby is a week or 2 late then it wouldn't be a Christmas baby :p haha

OrchidFlakes · 05/04/2014 11:35

I'm due to ov in the next day or two hence the pause... Arrrgghhhh tough decision

DulcetMoans · 05/04/2014 13:09

Well make the decision best for you but, once you have been trying for a long time I think you'll take a baby whatever month it wants to come!

RPopz · 05/04/2014 18:45

Agree with Dulcet. You either want a baby or you don't! Does it matter when it comes?

Smartiepants79 · 05/04/2014 18:48

Never considered it whilst trying for a baby. Both of mine were born at silly times of the year.
One is a August baby so will be barely 4 when she goes to school.
The other is a Christmas baby.
I'm just grateful they're here.

WhatsTheWordHummingbird · 05/04/2014 19:04

Id worry that if I missed a month, then it took many many months to get a BFP, whether that month Id missed was one I would have been successful on. Irrational I know, but I wouldnt be able to ignore the fact I wasted an opportunity.

Mrswellyboot · 05/04/2014 19:05

Just go for it, what a lovely present (I'm due in December) Grin

Chloerose75 · 05/04/2014 19:24

I wouldn't worry at all about a Christmas baby. I am hoping for one (special meaning for me) and if I get pg this month it will be due around the Christmas period. However I just want a baby and would not be too fussy when!

Catnuzzle · 05/04/2014 19:26

I was a xmas baby. I always said I wouldn't inflict it on my kids and we were lucky to conceive quickly both times. Wasn't ever faced with the struggle though, so do what's best for you and good luck.

NinjaHaggisHunter · 06/04/2014 20:34

I'm an Xmas baby and I love it!

threepiecesuite · 06/04/2014 20:37

I used to think I would avoid Dec but I'm on cycle #20 of trying now so I'll take any month!

Tigerlily09 · 07/04/2014 21:06

We have a ds who is 5, born 27 dec, not ideal, but we are still trying for this month, Sod's law we will end up with 2 Xmas birthdays!

aylesburyduck · 08/04/2014 07:31

I just want my pfb. Couldn't care less when they arrive just as long as they get here

Christmas is the season of joy and a baby would just amplify that massivelySmile

SneakyBiscuitEater · 08/04/2014 08:12

My DC3 and I both have birthdays a couple of days off Christmas.

Literally the only drawback I can think of is that I had to book my 18 th birthday (function room above a pub) well in advance because of everyone booking works do-s.

Pros include never being in school on my birthday. Never having exams on my birthday. People find it easy to remember the date.

Tranquilitybaby · 08/04/2014 08:14

We haven't, if it's meant to be it's meant to be x

PastaandCheese · 08/04/2014 08:19

I did with DC2 but it was more a case of delaying trying. We just started a month later. Had I already been trying I don't think I would have stopped but I conceived DC1 on the first month of trying and didn't want to miss a Christmas with her iyswim?

We ended up with a February baby instead.

tumbletumble · 08/04/2014 08:25

My DH has a birthday on 27th Dec. He's not keen on it, but it's not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I'd crack on if I were you!

Seminyak · 08/04/2014 08:28

I think it would be nice :) you can have an annual summer party AND birthday treats at Christmas too!

But then I have no real experience of it, this double-fun is l just in my mind. And I love Christmas.

chillychicken · 08/04/2014 10:20

I'm a December baby and I conceived last month...my due date?

My birthday Grin

I really don't see the issue with a December baby. I know no different and actually the idea of having a birthday in any other month seems weird!

I actually love having my birthday in December. It's such a magical time of year. I never felt I suffered by having a December birthday. Always had parties as a child, and as an adult, actually! Now, my family visit me the weekend before or just after my birthday and I decorate the Christmas tree with my Mum. It's become a little Birthday tradition!

For me, December is a magical month. It's so festive and you get great deals in hotels midweek as they can't fill the rooms and everyone is happy. It's just a fab time for me.

Also don't forget babies come early and late. I was due on Boxing Day but arrived a few weeks early.

StrawbRhi · 08/04/2014 13:00

My DD is a Christmas Day baby! It's awkward, but not horrible and she loves the attention it gets. But she does miss out on a party so we're celebrating her 'unbirthday' in August, starting this year.

I have PCOS and DD was a happy accident. We've been trying to conceive DC2 for nearly 3 years, but no luck. Funnily enough, I'm on my last cycle of clomid this month and currently in the 2WW. My estimated due date if a conceive this cycle?

Christmas Eve :D

(T-minus 7 days until test date)
