It worked for me.
I had tests, and fertility drugs. Didn't work.
Saw a reflexologist and homeopath, fell pregnant.

v interesting bunny2, thanks for posting.

Wow, that's impressive. My Mum brought the article over today and suggested I try her reflexologist. I told her there was no need as Im pg! She was chuffed. If I continue to have problems in the future, I'll def try the alternative route. I have heard great things about acupuncture too.

that's SOOO interesting, Bunny. Thanks for posting. I'm having reflexology treatment at the moment (after 14 months ttc). I have no prblems with ovulation but I think it's more to do with stress and a seemingly underactive thyroid. The treament's averaging at about once a week which we plan to cut down to once or twice a month. My last period was really heavy and I actually thought it was an early misc. However when I mentioned it to my reflexologist she said it wasmore likely to do with the treatment. What it says in this article seems to back that up.
Hoorah for alternative treatments!

Good luck with it Moomin, it's been around a lot longer than clomid and IVF which is all most doctors are interested in now. I firmly believe there are better ways.

Very interesting article.I haven't tried reflexology, but did concieve after acupuncture. This was after 3.5 years ttc with no success, even with clomid & being told by Drs that my only chances were IVF or adoption.

It was remarkable, after 4 months my erratic periods were regular & I was ovulating & 4 months later I was pregnant.Sadly it was an ectopic pregnancy, but by some miracle, after another acupuncture session 6 wks later,I found I was pregnant again & had a beatiful, healthy little girl.

If I have trouble ttc again,my first port of call will be my acupuncturist.

Good luck Moomin-keep us posted.

I have actually booked my first appointment to see a reflexologist for a couple of weeks time to see how I get on. However I do have one question that someone might be able to help with, if I did conceive this month, I would be just over 3 weeks pregnant - do you think reflexology would be safe at this time? I guess I will let the reflexologist know that I am ttc but just wondered if anyone had an opinion on this. Thanks.

bunny2 · 22/03/2004 19:54

I cant answer you question Bluestar but I wanted to wish you lots of luck with it if you do go ahead.

Bluestar
If you are pregnant, a good reflexologist will be able to tell somethings going on in that area.
It was following my last reflexology session that I tested positive. When I called her to cancel the next appointment, she said "why? are you pregnant?" She knew - but daren't say at the time. Tell her you are ttc. She will know which areas to work on and which to avoid. The jury's out on whether it's safe to have ref during early stages of pregnancy. However, some cultures believe it to be beneficial.
Good luck - but don't expect too much too soon. Anything worth having, is worth waiting for.

bluestar · 23/03/2004 08:54

Thanks Tillymint. I've always fancied having reflexology before and now seems a good a time as any to give it a go.

Moomin · 23/03/2004 11:15

bluestar - my reflexologist is giving me some quite intense treatment at the moment but said I have to tell her as soon as I even suspect I am pg then she will change her approach significantly. She has treated lots of pg women and she told me that reflexology can even help bring on labour for women who are overdue. It's definitely strong stuff so make sure you're very confident with your reflexologist and his/her ability.

bluestar · 23/03/2004 12:01

Thanks Moomin, as it will be my first appointment, I will consider nearer the time whether there is a chance I could be pg before proceeding. Useful advice, thanks.

reflexology certainly seems very beneficial in ttc and sub fertility. i dont like to call it infertility, as that implies never being able to conceive and therefore nothing can cure it.

reflexology balances the body systems and in doing so, kick starts the hormones, relieves stress and strengthens the immune system. sometimes both partners can benefit, as ttc is stressful for the dad too!

i dont believe there is any reason to stop having reflexology even once you have conceived, providing of course that there are no other problems. there are extra training courses for qualified reflexologists who want to specialise in the maternity area and they are quite aware of what they are doing.

i always think its a shame that there is so much misinformation about reflexology and other therapies, as so many women can benefit so much in the way of calming morning sickness for a start.

i love to see such positive articles.

alamel · 17/06/2004 01:23

Does anyone know how I can find a good reflexologist and one who is interested in helping treat fertility problems? I had clomid last time and would prefer to try a more natural route this time.

rosies · 17/06/2004 02:03

rather than look at the big organisations, like AoR, look in thompson or yellow pages, or yell. i find it too expensive to be a member of my examining body just for a newsletter once a quarter .

i have absolutely no problem with potential clients asking me what qualifications i have and experience in certain health matters... i am totally honest as i want to do the best for them. (i keep losing massage clients to osteopaths due to folk having specific back problems that i believe they should have checked out first!)

you could also do a search on google for maternity reflexology + your county for example.

please ask me if you have any other questions .

best wishes
rosie
