I have used it no bfp yet but it has regulated my cycle and I am now ttc without it. I would recommend you take it in the evening there can be a few side effects and its less if you sleep through them!

Are you going to be monitored whilst on clomid?. You ideally should have blood tests and ultrasounds. No monitoring is not acceptable.

I ask only because this drug is quite powerful stuff and should be given to PCOS patients with a degree of caution. It is not always suitable for all PCOS patients to take, it can give rise to clomid resistance.

Hey thanks for replying. wood was what kind of side affects? and no attila no mention of needing anything. I was just told to start it on day 2 of next cycle (whenever the hell that might be) take for 5 days and repeat on next cycle, and he would see me in 6 months. not the normal specialist tho. I'm only 26 if that makes a difference? Although normally they like to keep a close eye on things due to arthritis so I might go ask my doctor about scans/ blood test. she should know Smile

Im only 27 and I have had an internal and external scan and 2 lots of blood tests well 3 really my first gp told me everything was fine but to the fertility doc he said the pcos was obvious. Do you not have regular periods? I had about one a year so he gave me a prescription for norethisterone and that brought on my first bleed for clomid. I had headaches and constipation and it can cause dizziness which I didnt have. Oh and hot flushes. They were great! The cycle that I didnt take at night was the worst

kurama · 03/02/2014 21:38

Well I had blood test and scan before being prescribed it but no they aren't regular. anywere between every 6 weeks to 6 months. .. I'm 2 weeks into this cycle so I'm guessing he wasn't to bothered and said he didn't want to do say more tests right now. huh cycle 6 from 2 years of trying. well I will just have to see how things go. Grin hurry up cycle 7! hehe

Im on month 17 but thats only cycle 5 really as thats how many periods ive had! I haven't been monitored whilst on it I know a lot of people do but my doc said im responding well and he answers any questions I have so im happy with that. Im surprised your doc didnt give you norethisterone or something similar to ensure you get AF

I did 6 cycles of clomid.Ultrasound monitoring every month, For me the side effects were Hot flushes, abdo pain and swelling, dry foo foo so that was nice with the tranvaginal scanning,And what we described as "clomid moments" when I became hyper anxious and sometimes hysterical at stupid things.
Is your partners sperm count been checked because it obviously won t help if the swimmers are slow.
I managed 2-3 good size follicles every month but never got pregnant.
I had egg releasing hormone injections for the last couple of cycles.
(I've got three children now) I moved on to IVF got twin girls and a miracle naturally conceived son.I hope it works for you I know lots of people who it has worked for x

woodwaj · 03/02/2014 22:02

Ahh sandiy I forgot about the dry foo foo! That's prob the worst!! Congrats on all your babies!!

kurama · 03/02/2014 22:28

Yer lol hubby was checked first and everything's good with him. huh well that's fair enough. maybe my cycles are enough that they don't want to give me that. But I wasn't keen on new specialist so maybe he's just ab idiot. .... lol I will watch out for those when I start as I'm on ad as well. hysterics is not what I want lol.

Would agree that you need to be monitored while on clomid. They can vary the dose to make sure that it is making you ovulate, so you need to have the blood tests for the relevant hormones. No point taking the drugs for six months/six cycles if it's not doing anything.

I was on it for a while before they put the does high enough to do anything, but as soon as they got it right, dd was conceived :)

kurama · 04/02/2014 00:14

I've only been put on 50mg? guess ill just have to ask doc about it. thanks for all the info Smile

That's the minimum dose and you should be monitored whilst on this drug treatment. I would insist on being monitored. Not being monitored means you have no idea whether its working or not, clomid's main job here is to make the ovaries work harder.

Also it should be given to PCOS patients with a degree of caution as well as it can raise LH levels markedly; as many PCOSers have an excess of this hormone to start with, clomid is not always suitable for that reason either.
