Clomid conundrum - your help needed

Hi all, hoping some wise souls might be able to help!
I've just started a very very low dose of clomid (25g - i.e. a 50g tablet broken in two). [Reason being that I still ovulate and have pretty good progesterone levels - always above 64. But I'm 41 and it's been 2years of trying now.]
Anyhow, I'm now on day 11 and yet I'm still getting occasional bits of brown spotting type blood when I wipe (the sort you might get on the very last day of your period - or at least, I might!).
This is very weird for me - has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone know why I might have it?
And indeed, what does this spell with respect to my 'fertile time' - doctor advised sex from day 9. Yet I doubt very much that there's any chance of falling pregnant when I'm still somewhat having my period! (No fertile mucus either, btw)
Finally, does this likely spell one of those really long clomid cycles that I sometimes hear of (e.g. 35 days when my cycle is usually 26-28 days).
Thanks for any feedback!

Do you have a diagnosis of the underlying problem and are you under the care of a consultant gynae at a hospital's subfertility unit?. If not I would be asking why that is. Also have you as a couple been adequately investigated to date?. This is particularly pertinent seeing as you have been ttc for 2 years. Both of you should have up to date test results, any test result over 6 months old should be discounted.

Who prescribed clomid and why are you taking it at all?. Clomid
is usually only given to women who have problems with ovulating, not the other way around. If you have definitive proof that you are still ovulating (i.e through regular blood tests and ultrasounds) then clomid can actually have the opposite effect. Why is the tablet being broken, this does not normally happen either.

Spotting should always be checked out further to establish the underlying cause; its often not serious but it should be checked all the same.

Sex two or three times a week throughout the month is generally recommended.

Thanks Attila - yes, under a private hosp (london) - unexplained infertility (but frankly I suspect my age: 41 - fell pg at 37 v fast - have healthy boy). Was also v unsure about following clomid route - private doctor said try for two months - "a sniff of clomid" to ramp things up (hence half lowest dose). But now the brown gunk (not much but also not normal). Maybe I sd just go for ivf ---not sure what other option for someone like me.
Regular blood tests definitely confirm ovulation btw.

Unexplained infertility is infact no diagnosis at all; all this means is that they have failed to find out what is wrong. Sometimes it is a "diagnosis" given to couples when they have not been adequately investigated or they do not know what to do with the couple.

Some private places offer treatment that is poor as well as expensive.
Clomid can produce the opposite effect if you have definitive proof you are ovulating regularly. I would now seek a second opinion from another unit.

Brown matter is "old blood" and should be checked further as it is outside your "normal".

I do think your age could well be a factor here, it may also be that both of you are contributing to the subfertility.

How or what sd I do to investigate the brown matter? (Which has now stopped btw)
Poor & expensive is correct but again I'm left not knowing what options I sd or cld explore (the private hosp was on the advice of my very good gp tho she stressed she is no expert on fertility)
Unexplained fertility is my diagnosis btw! I had a MMC last Oct (took me about four months to fall preg) but nothing since - actively trying since last jan.
Really v confused.
