Blu · 27/01/2014 21:01

Straight away. In my early 40s.

When I told DP I was pg he looked baffled and said 'but I thought you had to try for about 6 months!'. Duh.

youbethemummylion · 27/01/2014 21:01

First month of stopping pill with both pregnancies

Audilover · 27/01/2014 21:01

DC4 was the result of doing it once without using contraception.
DC5 was the result of the condom splitting and the map not working.

flipchart · 27/01/2014 21:02

Both of mine were conceived exactly when we tried without any ado. (3years, 3 months between them)

sheeplikessleep · 27/01/2014 21:02

First cycle for ds1 and ds2.
Second cycle for ds3.

SirChenjin · 27/01/2014 21:02

NearTheWndmill - I'm so sorry for your losses Sad

perplexedpirate · 27/01/2014 21:03

It took one shag, both times (1st ended in miscarriage).
We now take contraception very seriously.

My second child took 1 attempt. My dp didn't believe me and said I was showing him 1st child's test stick. My 1st took 5 months . We used a site called fertility friend it's pratically fool proof of getting your timings right.

Beansprout30 · 27/01/2014 21:12

Fantastic I hope it happens so quick for us :D so sorry those who have gone through mc's.
I cannot believe how broody I have suddenly got, I always thought I was the least maternal woman id ever known!

I did, twice Grin

FizzyFeet · 27/01/2014 21:26

Just for a bit of perspective:
Pg 1: 6 months (m/c)
Pg 2: 6 months after that (m/c, ectopic)
Pg 3: 18 months after that (m/c, ectopic)

Three and a bit years after starting ttc, we are now in the middle of ivf.

Up to a year is normal even for fertile couples.

SaltySeaBird · 27/01/2014 21:49

Just to add that it isn't always so easy. Started trying age 32.

Pregnancy 1 took 2 years but miscarried at 8 weeks
Pregnancy 2 took 5 months after miscarriage
Pregnancy 3 still waiting, 7 months actively trying (using ov tests, taking temperature) but have been having unprotected sex for just over a year.

I wish it was that easy.

LightTripper · 27/01/2014 21:50

2 months, aged 38, using home insemination... Fair to say we were quite surprised how fast it worked!!

thenoodlemachine · 27/01/2014 21:51

First go. Twice.

nickymanchester · 27/01/2014 21:57

SaltySeaBird

I know what you mean, although I was luckier than you.

First pregnancy trying for about a year and then found out it was non-viable followed by a D&C. The doctors said to wait a few months but I wasn't going to do that and very luckily got pregnant straight away.

JenBehavingBadly · 27/01/2014 21:59

Two accidents. I cough and I get pregnant. DH and I are very, very, very careful.

notso · 27/01/2014 21:59

DC1 and DC4 both unplanned. Missed pills with DC1 and miscalculated injection with DC4.

DC2 took 3 months but had to wait nearly 18 months for periods to start beforehand as had been on injection for ages.
DC3 had coil out in Feb was pg in March.

shatteredstudentmum · 27/01/2014 22:03

First time was 3 months, second 2 months, in my 30s both times

ShoeSmacking · 27/01/2014 22:05

A gynaecologist told me that the numbers are averaged hence the theory that it takes 6-12 months. But really, most fertile healthy couples, having sex at the right time, are pregnant within 3 months. For those who aren't, it will most likely take 18 months or more.

TimeToPassGo · 27/01/2014 22:05

Yep. Use ovulation sticks, also use Pre-Seed or a similar lubricant if you think you're not making as much EWCM as you used to old gimmer me

NaturalBaby · 27/01/2014 22:12

ds1 took a few months, 3 I think
ds2 and ds3 straight away.

Weegiemum · 27/01/2014 22:17

Dd1 - first month of trying (29)
Ds - 2nd month of trying (31)
Dd2 - wasn't trying, I had a mirena coil! (32)

Then had prem menopause at 35 so just as well.

cupcake78 · 27/01/2014 22:22

Yep first time every time. Could have done with it taking slightly longer to ease the shock.
