hi all,

i was just wondering... if instead of finding out when we are fertile, has anyone tried before having sex every day of the month? or, considering that the spermatozoid lives for 2-3 days, if anyone has tried to have sex every other day or so?

Booboodeboo did that last month and got her BFP!!
The doctors advice is always to BD every other day and I know the Atila says that 3 times a week is best.

If you just stick to your most fertile times you could be missing the opportunity!! Especailly when people ov at such different times in their cycles.

I was also told that the biggest factor in sub-fertility is the fact that couples simply don't have enough sex!

The month I concieved dd we bd every day. Had been trying for 7 months.

With ds we did it a few times mid month. 2 months of trying..

WE had sex last month every day from day af finished til a week after ovulation.
Worked but we have tried it some other months and got nowhere
The word from the ttc bunch the last few weeks is
Doggy style...

My friend did it everyday for a month and got pregnant the first month.
I stuck to my ovulation time (obviously doing it sometimes when felt like it outside of ovulation) and got a BFP after 3 months.

thats what i thought. if you have more sex, you are more likely to get pregnant within 3 months or less. and that does sound right about the sub-fertility coggy. my mother's (who has 8 siblings) side is from the country side of brazil, and they all have between 6/12 children. not to mention one of my aunts that had over 20. of course not all survived and she spend most of her life having babies. but the thing is, i dont think they are more fertile than us, they just have more sex.

i have some friends trying for a baby now, and i find them quite shy to mention how often they have sex, or at least they only talk about the ovulation period kind of sex. i hope they are not counting just with that!

20 babies???!!!!

I think when you've been ttc for such a long time (like a few of us on here!!) it gets to the point where you do end up BDing just around ov time on some months.

It starts off all the time and exciting but after many years the excitment of 'am I, aren't I?' kind of wears off a bit!!!!!

Also...exhausted DHs!!!!!!!

jabuti · 31/07/2006 19:35

i know, they are like rabbits over that side of the world! my cousins all have children on their early 20's. fertility problems, miscarriage, stillbirth? brush it off with more sex and more babies! its a very different approach of life i guess.

i agree about the excitement going down with years of "practice". i wasnt very clear on my post, i was wondering about people that are still in their first year of ttc. but thats an interesting topic itself, how to keep interested in your sex life when you are ttc for years. lots to say.

I think the general 'being at it like rabbits' pretty much covers it!!!!

Any time is good!!!

with ds I had no idea about ov times etc so we did it every other day. Was pg in a month.
Used ov tests with DD as we were ttc after 3rd mc.
With this baby[16wks pg] again it was an every other day and few extra bits when I thought I might be oving.
