Hello lovely fellow ttc-ers! My first post in this section hopefully I've chosen the right bit of mumsnet for this.

So, when ttc it is my habit (I assume not unusually) to eschew all prego-banned substances, goats cheese, wine etc. this is only a problem for me when it comes to pain relief because for the last 15 years or so I've suffered horrendous (mainly hormonal, also often stress related) migraines. Medication wise I've tried pretty much everything but settled on super strength ibuprofen as the best way of managing the pain, with the odd antihistamine for the sickness. Obviously this is a no-no during pregnancy (& therefore ttc). I can take paracetamol but it barely touches the pain. The first 5 months of my first pregnancy were very bad for migraines and I pretty much struggles through. But we've just started ttc for no 2 and while I don't want to take anything that might harm any potential babies I just don't know how to get through these migraines arrrrgh. I'll go see my GP although in the past a lot of docs have not been able to help. Any tips or relaxation ideas, or fellow sufferers out there?

Hi Monkey

I suffer migraines and prior to TTC used to take anti epileptic medication as a preventative and imigran when I was having an attack.

Had to stop taking both before starting to TTC and consultant states only paracetamol for attacks which don't touch it. Only thing I have found that helps is a cold compress on the back of my neck, and lying in a dark room. And getting DH to give me a head neck and shoulder massage.

Sorry I can't offer you anything more practical but you do have my sympathy.
