PCOS and POAS

Afternoon ladies,
Bored and work and my mind has wondered!! I have PCOS and had no AF since withdrawal bleed back in Sep. Doctor has told us to TTC whilst awaiting referral "as you never know", so my question is...how often would you test? I have no idea when or if AF will show up so no idea! Can see myself spending a fortune on sticks!! Suggestions or thoughts welcome....

Hi Lam I have pcos too and have had one successful pregnancy and 3 mc. For all of them I wasn't having a regular cycle. For the early ones I remember feeling a bit off. I poas and the hospital then did a dating scan.

Recently I learned how to tell if I was ovulating by looking at cm. I backed this up with ovulation test sticks (cheap ones of amazon). Currently 6 weeks preg thanks to thisGrin
I have to add that I have been taking metformin which has dramatically reduced the lenght of my cycles to near normal.

meant to finish that with once I learned when I ovulated I then could test 2 weeks laterGrin

Thanks ready. Sorry to hear about your mc. Fingers crossed for this bean. Have heard mixed things re opk sticks and cm and their reliability with PCOS. Did your GP prescribe metformin or the fertility clinic? I haven't been given anything just referred. It's all so confusing!

my GP originally but I think I hit it lucky with her. A number of others I have come across have been reluctant.

I found its best to test only when you feel symptoms, like intense nausea - it does however tend to mean you are late on the uptake- I found I was expecting dd1 at 8 weeks into the pregnancy, and about 5 weeks for dd2 as I knew what to look out for then. Also I bought cheap tests and when I got a positive I went and bought a clear blue digital, although not all that helpful as it just said 3+ weeks for both...

My GP hasn't suggested anything other than the referral which I realise I am lucky to have given that most have to wait a year before any tests are even done to investigate.

bee what you did was exactly what DH suggested, won't tell him that though!

Well it's means once you get a bfp you have less time to wait for baby, there is no need to know really so so early.

Again, he has said that! Thank you! Must learn to be patient and see what the clinic have to say...

As nearly said - I would test two weeks well more like 10 days after ovulation to see if I was pregnant. (I got good at determining ovulation through ovulation sticks and taking my body temperature.)

Before I knew I had pcos and my first post pill cycle was 75 days before I got a bfp. Then I tested once a week and before any big drinking sessions Grin

You can get very cheap ovulation and pregnancy tests online. They are very basic but do the job fine and saved me a fortune when trying to conceive dd.
