Since turning 30 it has suddenly hit me that I would really like to have a baby. Hubby and I have agreed to start trying next year but I have a few debts to pay first. I have been on pill for about 13 years, would it be stupid to come off it now? Everyone tells me there is never the right time when starting a family, I guess only we can decide when to go for it, I guess im a bit nervous about coming off pill now because of the debt I have but then I think sod it, everyone else seems to cope?

You will get lots of varied opinions. I do think paying off your debt is sensible however it took us over 18 months to conceive so I would probably say go for it (it can take a while for some people to get cycles back after the pill). Word of caution is that plenty of people do seem to get pregnant immediately so you have to be prepared that it may happen!

If you have been on the pill for almost 13 years, yes come off of it now. It can take 2-12 months for your cycle to re-regulate itself after the pill, not to mention a bunch of other things can happen to your body after the pill (hormonal whackout - low estrogen, failed ovulation, etc).

Come off it now & get your periods back to normal. You can use condoms until you're ready Grin

come off it now to get it out of your system. Like already said you can use condoms for the while.
We put off ttc for 3years because there was always something that came up.

Then ttc for over 3 more years.

Finally adopting now but wish we'd have started this journey earlier.
Trying to say in a very waffley way: you never know what's around the corner so go for it!

I'm in a very similar situation (though debt recently paid off so not a worry any more). Within 2 weeks of coming off the pill I had ovulated so watch out if you're not ready!

Thanks all, scary but exciting

with you all the way beansprout :)

i'm 39 and just starting to try, i've realised if i keep worrying about being in the right place, it'll never happen.

i don't have debt (or any money tho!) but myself and my partner do not have any family close and i worry about that

we have to go for it and stop worrying..people have been doing this forever!

wishing you luck xx
