please can somebody advise as to which is the best pregnancy test? eg not too expensive (how much are they anyway??) but the most accurate. also am I too early to test? I have been off the pill due to health reasons for 3 months and had two 28 day cycle, but now I am 3 days late and really getting panicky. We have use other contraception so it's quite unlikely that I am pregnant but I have to put my mind at rest, I really cannot be pregnant at this time. Big apologies to all those who ttc, I'm sorry this is really insensitive but its my personal situation.
Thanks.

Hi Linziloo,

Re your posting:-
"hi there this is my first time on here. was wondering if someone can help, i had my last period on the 26th of may that is 57 days ago now, me and my hubby have being trying to get pregnant for about 3 months.I came of the pill in november, I have done several hpt and they are all negative, what is the chances of being pregnant".

I would have to say it is very unlikely that you are expecting given that you've had several negative results. A normal cycle is a cycle length of between 21 and 35 days or with less than 4 days of variation from month to month. A 57 plus day cycle is highly likely to be one in which ovulation has not occured.

I would have a blood test done asap by your GP to see what your hormone levels are like (in this regard your level of luteinising hormone mmust be compared against that of follicle stimulation hormone) as imbalances of these two can cause such problems. In this regard a condition called polycystic ovaries is a common culprit. It needs to be determined if PCO is behind your long cycles.
PCO can be treated but you may need help from a gynaecologist at a subfertility unit.

There is no evidence to suggest that the pill is responsible for failure to ovulate but it can mask symptoms of underlying problems.

HTH, any other questions just ask

Nicola63,
Can you just go to the G U clinic and request a scan? or did your doctor refer you?
I have missed a period, negative on a test, had blood tests but am waiting for the results.. but just want to move onto the next step.
Thanks xx
