I have had 5 pregnancies (2 healthy babies) all of which were conceived in the first month of trying, one being an "oops". I had the mirena put in in 2011 and had it out in august (18 months total). I have not been trying per say but not preventing either. This month I DTD the day before ov and have now got my period. Of course after reading mirena horror stories I am now convinced I'm infertile. Am I being paranoid??? Or do I have reason to suspect that something might be up (it's so unusual for me to NOT fall preg easily but at the same time I DTD ONCE the day before ov and that's it). Advice/stories/slaps welcome.

I conceived 5 weeks after having my Mirena removed so it definitely didn't make me infertile Grin

It can take 6 months or so for your womb lining to start getting thick enough each month to enable an egg to implant following removal of Mirena. My first pregnancy was a result of one unprotected occasion, it took me 5 months after having mirena out to conceive. One month trying for 3rd pregnancy. Can only presume I was one of the many who need a few months to get back to normal after it being taken out!

Thanks Rockchick, if bit heard that before but it makes complete sense! Did your periods change over that course of time? Mine have started very light and painless (and short), but are gradually getting heavier and more painful (like normal I guess :) )...

Yup, same here - started out super light then gradually getting back to how they used to be. Worst thing for me was that pre-period symptoms are so similar to early pregnancy symptoms that every month I was convinced I was pregnant Sad
