Hello all! You seem like a nice bunch and I got some useful advice here a while ago about alcohol while TTC. So maybe there are some words of wisdom for me again here?
After about 15 months of trying I was referred for investigations and the HSG scan showed a blocked left tube. I was very surprised and more than a bit gutted. I agreed with the consultant that a laparoscopy would be a good idea to see what was going on there, possibly removing the tube as apparently when they are blocked they can turn the whole environment a bit toxic (urgh). So, the laparoscopy was booked in for early December, and you can guess the rest ... my period was due about six days ago but never showed, POAS tests are positive (still a pale line, but getting darker each day I swear!) I have cancelled the laparoscopy and hoping hoping hoping that although it is early days still, it sticks. I have never had a positive test result before... Excited but not quite believing it so I won't let myself go overboard. Yet. Husband is very cautious too.
I have an appointment with the consultant next week (it was already in the diary to meet him before the lap - handy!) So I am asking for tips for things to ask him about. Has anyone been in a similar situation?
This is what I am worrying about at the moment:
- Am I actually, really truly, actually honestly up the duff? Finally?
- Google helpfully informs me that ectopic pregnancies are more likely if you have a blocked tube. Is this true and how likely is it?
- Can I have an early scan to see if it is in the right place and if so when is the earliest it makes sense to do this?
- Am I more likely to miscarry because of the blocked tube (being realistic, the risk is probably high-ish anyway as it is first pregnancy and I am 37)
So - what else do you think I should be asking him about? Or if you have any answers to those questions, please help!
Huge thanks. And best wishes to everyone who is trying and hoping.
