Should I go ask for clomid?

I haven't Ov'd this month, I'm day 21 now with no sign or symptom so it's not looking likely. I've used opk's and I'm confident I haven't missed it.
I also don't think I did last month although can't be sure as I didn't use opk's but again, didn't notice any usual symptoms (sore boobs, cramping EWCM etc..). Last cycle also ended with a weird bleed much shorter and lighter making it more like to be anovulatory :(
Do I go and mention Clomid to the Dr or is it too soon?
Don't really know what to do from here.

Quick info in case it's relevant -
I'm 35
TTC for roughly 2.5 years on and off.
DP is fine
I had all bloods done and a scan back in Jan - all fine, all healthy.

Definitely go and ask for it. Worst case is they say no. Don't hang about, you've been TTC for quite a while.
Good luck!

Sorry I should add, I don't think 50mg clomid for a few cycles is going to do you any harm.

Thanks baggy, I think I'll go start the wheels in motion at least. They're probably going to insist on all my blood work done again as it was quite a while back, I'll make an app with my Gynae asap.

Great. Do update when you've been and let us know how you got on!

You need a diagnosis first and foremost; have you been at all under the care of a consultant gynae at a subfertility unit to date?.

What are your periods like generally?.

You both now need up to date test results; any test done over 6 months ago should now be discounted. At 18 months plus of ttc without success it is likely that either one or equally both of you are contributing to the subfertility.

Ideally the gynae should prescribe clomid if needed (its certainly not suitable for all women) because its actually quite powerful stuff and thus you should be monitored whilst on it. No monitoring is unacceptable here because you do not then know whether its working or not.

No diagnosis Attila - We're both deemed healthy with no medical reason for it taking so long. The only thing I can put it down to is that we follow a Dr Shettles method - so understand that could be limiting my chance of conceiving quicker but doesn't explain where Ov is.

I don't live in the UK so technically didn't need referring to a Consult Gynae - I simply arrange the appoints myself with him, so he knows. However I haven't seen him for a while.

I thought that about the tests - they're from too long ago so probably a good idea to book myself an appoint with the GP before the Gynae and get them done as they'll probably be requested anyway.

Periods normally ok 25-28 day cycles, all that I've OPK'd I've Ov'd almost always on CD12/13 occasionally CD14, my LP is normal.

I possibly may not be allowed to take Clomid anyway, I suffer focal migraine, banned from taking the combined pill etc.. and I've been reading some stuff where other women were refused it in the same situation as it made theirs worse but some others weren't affected at all whilst using it.
There's other stuff though so not a huge problem, see what my Gynae says.

Thanks for the replies.

Just wanted to say that the shettles method is proven not to work (see e.g. the book the Impatient woman's guide to getting pregnant for details). I really wouldn't lower your chances with it.

MrsHY1 · 23/11/2013 14:28

Was about to post but I'm afraid the Shettles method mention has put me right off trying to offer any words of advice, sorry!

AnyFuckersfrogslegs35 · 23/11/2013 16:58

Blamber thanks, I'll have a look having not previously seen it.
It's my dp that insists on following it Hmm - I'm already doubtful anyway and a 'you get what you're given' kind of person.
I have seen something called the Whelan method that totally contradicts shettles so I'm a bit Confused

Mrs - I'm not quite sure why you did actually bother to write anything.
