hi, this may be a long post...sorry in advance....
I had an operation to remove a cyst on my left ovary 4 years ago and it ended with them having to remove the whole ovary. I had very irregular bleeding for a couple of months afterwards and then was put on anti-depressants which stopped my periods for 2 years, then they just seemed to come every 4-5 months.
I came off the meds 6 months ago and have had regular periods every month since, and get what I assume are ovulation cramps halfway through my cycle.
has anyone had any experience like this and managed to get pregnant fairly easily? or was it a long while before you conceived?
thankyou :)

I have a similar medical history - I had cysts on both ovaries and had one ovary removed and half the other. I was pregnant within two months of getting married. Hope that's encouraging :)

Not quite the same here but maybe worth mentioning..? As a child I had a badly infected ovary and was told it would never function properly. But luckily it has never taken me more than 2 months to fall pregnant (am expecting DC3 at mo). Good luck!

oh yay I like the positive stories! this is our first month ttc, i'm a few days away from when I should be ovulating and we're at it like rabbits.
I fell pregnant on 2nd month with dc1 but that's before I had the operation. ohhh fingers crossed!

Another positive story. My sister had one tube removed and the other repaired after late complications of appendicitis / peritonitis. We'd all assumed she'd need IVF and she may even have been put directly on the waiting list when she got married; but she's now got 3 naturally conceived children. (and the gynaecologist who did her surgery still gets Christmas cards from our mother!)

Best wishes

My mum had an ovary removed about 12 years ago ( cyst)

She concieved my sister after 4 months at the age of 42
:)

Had an ovary and tube removed due to a cyst. Conceived both DD1 and DD2 within 2 & 3 months respectively. DC 3 is proving a little more difficult!

radiatormesh · 02/12/2013 00:16

Had an ovary removed due to cancer. Had chemo. Waited the requisite 6m. Conceived DC#2 first month trying (DC#1 had also been first month trying so neither losing an ovary not having chemo made a jot of difference).

If that's not a reassuring story, I don't know what is!!!

Not at all the same but I have PCOS & was told 13 years ago that I was basically down to one ovary (right one if it matters)! I have had 3 DC since & a 4th pregnancy that ended with a MMC.

It can happen!
