Been ttc and had 2 faint bfps but also light bleed for one day on day af was due. I've also had lots of symptoms.
Went to Dr and she said I was pregnant but.also that I might be having a mc. I had to take at test again this morning. It was BFN!
I'm obviously not pg but why did I get the bfps initially? I thought if I had a early mc there would be more bleeding.
Can anyone help with their experience?
Thanks

Hi trouble,

Sorry your going through this. I experienced a chemical last month after getting my bfp three days prior to it. My bleeding was heavy for one-two days and then spotting, really not as much as I would expect for a loss. But I had to test a week later and it was like you a BFN. This means the hcg levels have dropped very low and your body recognises your not pregnant anymore (despite having symptoms).

During the month I had random tummy pains and spotting so keep an eye on things. I'm still waiting for AF to appear too !! If you have any other pain then don't hesitate to ring your GP....hugs to you :)

Firstly, sorry you have had this happen, it is horrible to feel so 'tricked' by your body.
I am not a medic in any sense, but I did have a chemical pregnancy, and my understanding in laymans terms is that it is fertilization without implantation. So, the due to egg meeting sperm, your levels of HcG start to increase ( hence bfp), but egg never implants properly, so it's just a matter of time before your HcG levels drop again, and AF arrived. So in the absolute medical definition of the word, you aren't ever actually pregnant, and therefore aren't technically miscarrying. But, in my experience, the emotions are pretty much exactly the same, and I personally always considered my experience to be the same as other losses.
I hope that is about right, I'm sure someone with more medical terminology might be able to add more.

Thank you for your replies. Sorry to hear of your experiences too.
I think what I had was just spotting really as it was very light and didnt need frequent change of ST (tmi sorry!)
I haven't gone on to have full AF as normal tk

Sorry! Bloody phone.
I don't know whether to call the Dr as planned or as I have a bfn to just leave it and see what happens when AF is due this month? Did you speak to GP or just carry on?

If you feel concerned, defo worth calling the GP.
Mine stayed 'hidden' for 8 weeks (!) so I ended up finding out during an early pregnancy scan, which confirmed there was nothing there at all. AF came about a week after that. Having said all this, if your AF doesn't get any heavier, then it might be worth doing another test in a few days?

Cherry, can I ask what symptoms you had for your chemical?

Something else confusing, I've just done an opk stick and it has come up with 2 lines -an LH surge. I shouldn't be ovulating so soon should I? Or does it happen earlier when you've had a chemical?
Oh it's so confusing! I think I will call the GP.

I would definitely call, just to discuss all the different (conflicting!) bits of information and try and get some clarity.
My symptoms with the chemical pregnancy were the same as for all my pregnancies i.e. Very few; I never had many early pregnancy symptoms, whether I ended up going full term with my 2 gorgeous DD's, or not with my 5 losses. My body really did like messing with my mind, sadly. Hmm
So sorry, not much help on that front - only to say that when AF did finally come, it was pretty 'normal' IYSWIM.

Troubleintmill · 13/11/2013 10:43

Thanks Cherry.
I meant did you have any loss before your af? It was af just late?
See my confusion is the fact af was on time but different to normal and all these so called symptoms!
It's awful trickery.
I'm sorry you've had so many losses but glad you have lovely children too.
Must get on and call GP. She did say she would refer me for a EPU scan but not sure she will now i have bfn today.

Sorry, I see what you mean. No, I didn't have any spotting or loss - a BFP, and no AF, which is most cases means pregnant! Because of my previous history, I went for early scan at about 8 weeks, which revealed the chemical p. If you can get for a scan, at least that will confirm for sure - although depends how many weeks you are at of course.

Cruel trickery it is indeed.
