Has anyone had experience of problems with conceiving and after acupuncture almost immediately gotten pregnant? I have heard great things about this and am wondering if anyone in the Cambridge area has experience and can recommend anyone?

Watching with interest. Have just started acupuncture after 12 months of trying for baby2. (Baby1 was an accident so we have no idea where we're going wrong...)

I had a friend who tried it with great results, but with a London based acupuncturist. I don't really want the added expense and time of travelling, so looking for a recommended Cambridge one.

I had great results with acupuncture for morning sickness with dd and I did a pre-labour course as well... I had an easy-ish labour... So my experiences have been positive. All with different practitioners as well. Unfortunately I'm based in South West so can't offer a recommendation. But it might be worth looking through the NCT magazine for your area, they usually have adverts for this sort of thing...

How long have you been trying for? Is this your first?

I ttc for 2 1/2 years and conceived on my first acupuncture course....BUT it was also our first iui, we'd stopped drinking alcohol for a few months before, and did all the other healthy stuff you should do when ttc

What I found most with ours was that she was a great counsellor and I finally felt positive... and I was proved right a few weeks later Smile

We have been TTC for 2 years and I have just started a acupuncture 2 months ago.
So far my periods have regulated themselves and no spotting now. My acupuncturist is amazing and I love going, though it is £40 each week.
I have also gone wheat and dairy free. Dairy was a big issue for me as I'm a Cold person in acupuncture terms and the dairy causes dampness inside you.
My skin since cutting out dairy is amazing and I feel a lot better.
I hope it will work and I get a positive result soon, I'd recommend it defo even if just for stress levels.

Yes. Accupuncture regulated my cycle, improved my PMS massively, eased my menstrual cramps....and I got pg third month of having it Grin

So.... First month trying acupuncture and just got a BFP at 10dpo.

OMG - where's my yellow pages?!

Congrats

Does it hurt though? I have a fear of needles?

DontCallMeDaughter · 14/10/2013 20:51

You don't actually see the needles unless you're looking for them, they're tiny and generally you lie on your back so you can't see what's happening.

It's not painful... But you do feel a little prick as the needle goes in. I find they can ache a little as well.

But once they're in, I find it relaxing and energising and it leaves me feeling really positive that I'm doing something to help our chances.

I'm going to keep having it now to help us through the first few weeks.

RaRa1988 · 15/10/2013 10:46

Sometimes it hurts - but absolutely nothing like the sort of needles you feel when you're having blood taken. I've had accupuncture a few days before ovulation to stimulate my ovaries and I tend to find that I'm very sensitive on the side I'm going to ovulate from and so the needles hurt a little on that side. I've also had electro-accupuncture over my ovaries: that's not nearly as scary as it sounds; there's only a very mild current going through the needles to wobble them about. It kinda feels like a gentle buzz on your skin, and it's really warm and relaxing. I'd recommend that if you can get it - I had a really strong ovulation that month.

Robyn4270 · 19/10/2013 19:27

I've been trying for about 11 months and yes it's my first. I spent my whole youth trying NOT to get pregnant and really thought it would happen quickly.. It seems the more people you speak to though it's really common....
