bubblez · 28/06/2006 12:56

How late are you?

I don't know about menopause but I was once 9 days late for my period due to stress if that helps. [hopefull expression]

QueenPeaHead · 28/06/2006 12:57

oooooh!

I hope so as I am on day 54 of my cycle (but I don't think it is sorted out post dd yet though)

perhaps we will here the pitter patter of tiny feet for you soon expat

compo · 28/06/2006 12:58

irregualr cycle, pcos, stress etc. i once went 6 months without one.

stitch · 28/06/2006 12:59

lots of negative reasons. depends on how late you are. get it checked if particularly late, or painful.

expatinscotland · 28/06/2006 13:03

stress has been a factor. my folks came into town and we were rushing around. dd1's sleep got all messed up and then dd2's as well.

am only about 1 week late.

won't bother going to doctors.

no. 1 - i HATE them
no. 2 - it's a waste of time
no. 3 - i don't care if it never shows up again so long as i'm not pregnant

it was pretty light last month so here's hoping the ol' factory is shutting down.

i'm ageing fairly quickly, too, much faster than my mother.

but then, my life has been far more stressful than hers - mostly my own damn fault.

never have been irregular, but the body can change so much after having kids. and as i stated before, i'm ageing quite quickly.

sounds like stress could be a factor then......(of course worrying abot it doesn't help )

lucykate · 28/06/2006 13:06

if thinking you might be pg is contributing towards stress, do at test then at least you'll know either way

expatinscotland · 28/06/2006 13:07

no, i don't think i'm pregnant. that's not stressing me at all.

mostly the kids' sleeping stresses me out. i'm still on AD's for PND - although now at lowest dose - and one thing that always for some reason sent me into panic was when they woke up all night or didn't sleep well.

it's possibly PCOS, though. i've certainly got the acne thing going on!

but i don't care if it were and wouldn't bother getting it checked out.

have you tested to rule out pregnancey?

expatinscotland · 28/06/2006 13:19

no, fairy. don't want to waste money on those rip off tests. i'd know if i were pregnant.

Ah, I see!

A nurse friend of mine had hers tested, she's in her mid-40s and started having irregular periods and yep, she was officially found be in the menopause. She is, however, quite pleased about that. She never had kids, but she never wanted them and thoroughly enjoys being a step mum and step grandmum.

My poor sister would sell her soul for menopause. She's got heavy periods - but no fibroids - and can't do ANY hormonal contraception as she has hypertension (plus her dh had a vasectomy years ago after her DD2 was born). The poor thing just gets vile PMT and cramps and is actively praying for hte menopause at 39.

the insurance will not approve her for one b/c there is nothing medically wrong w/her. just age, they say. she's had laproscopy, dye test, etc.
