Am sure ihave asked this before but can't seem to find the answers.

Anyway can someone let me know how much roughly i would be looking at paying am still waiting for appoinment with nhs and am fed up of waiting so going to make an appoinment at my nearest clinic.

How oftern do you have to go if you are put on clomid? If you go private will your gp do the blood tests under the nhs?

thanks if you can help me.

If you go to a clinic you'd pay an initial consultation fee (I paid £140) then the cost of the drugs - not that much, £30 or so. However it depends upon which clinic you go to as to whether you are monitored and therefore how much this element of the treatment (scans) etc, will cost.

The best thing to do is to contact a couple in your area and ask. You may have to be referred by a GP too but that's just a formality (especially if they have already referred you to the NHS).

Thanks for that info.

Think there is only one that is close ish to us. Have made an appoinment to have a look around and chat to the nurse before i book an appointment with the consultant.

Mine was £115 initial consultation then £100 per consultation after. They monitored the first cycle only which meant 2 internal scans and 2 blood tests which was over £300. But some clinics do clomid then if it doens't work then they do investigations but mine did it the other way round. Luckily I had all the blood hormone tests done on the NHS before going. But I had to have a scan (£100) and an hsg (£300) to rule out any problems. Their reasoning was that you can only safely take about 6 or so months of clomid so why waste it if you have a problem with your tubes or uterus.
They will send you a price list.

It's a lot of money isn't it. Well not as much as IVF etc but i was planning to start saving for when i eventually have a baby but no looks like i will be spending the money on trying to get one.

Who said this ttc lark was easy??? - must have been a man.xx
