TTC #1 - 11 months - what should I say to doctor tomorrow?

Hey ladies

I really need some advice please.

Me and my husband are in our early 30's and are TTC #1 with no luck. This is our 11th cycle as AF came last weekend.

I have regular periods and use the cbfm and regularly get highs and peaks on it. Me and DH DTD about twice a week but increase this in the fertile week.

A couple of months ago DH went to the GP to get tested and thankfully his results came back clear.

I have also had an ultrasound to check for PCOS and luckily this came back negative too.

I have tried to remain upbeat but when AF came last week it really got me down. As such I have made an appointment to see my GP tomorrow morning but now don't know what to say.

Can you guys advise what I should be saying or asking for?

Thanks xx

Hi
Sorry to hear you're having trouble, we're in a similar situation and are currently going through initial investigations. I would lead with what you've said here - That you've been TTC for 11 cycles and aren't getting anywhere. And mention what it is that's bothering you the most - Do you find it really difficult to cope with talking to friends/relatives with small children, are you worried it will never happen, or is there something else you're worried about, - If so, mention it so that they can see the situation from your point of view. They will ask you about your cycle, whether it is regular or not, how long from one period to the next, whether you have any bleeding in between. They will ask whether you are up to date with your smear tests and whether you're taking folic acid. Might ask a few questions about lifestyle, how regularly you DTD, etc. Nothing to worry about - They are on your side! They will probably start with some basic blood tests (one that needs to be at the beginning of your cycle and one a week before your next AF is due) and take it from there.
Good luck Smile

Thanks for the response Jennifer.

I think you have summed up my worries there. I try not to think about being pregnant although it normally catches up with me the last couple of days before AF and the day of AF.
I don't know if it's the same for you but it literally feels like everybody is falling pregnant around me and a lot of these are accidental too Hmm

I'm just nervous that the doctor may not put me forward for any tests yet as I am having regular cycles etc.

Oh and you have just reminded me to get my smear done too.

Best of luck to you too x

Shoegal - I've only been ttc two months and I feek exactly as you do so my thoughts are with you.

I saw the doctor and she wasn't massively helpful.

She has booked me in for a 21 day blood test to ensure that I am ovulating/thyroid etc. BUT 21 days will fall on a Saturday so she has said that I should book in for the Monday after which makes it day 23. I normally have a 27 day cycle. Is there any issue with having the tea on Day 23 and not on 21?
