Pregnacare delaying af?

I've taken pregnacare all cycle and am currently three days late. With three bfns... Dr google suggests that taking it can prolong cycles, has anyone else experienced this? I just want af to arrive if she's coming and if I was pg it would have shown by now as I know when I ovd and it was at least 14 dpo. Cheers for any other stories with this supplement!

What is actually in Pregnacare vitamins? Do you mean the pre-conception ones? Are they supposed to aid conception or something? I know there are ones you take during pregnancy but didn't realise there were some you were supposed to take beforehand? I feel a bit naughty now for not having done so..

Yep, it's the same company and they are pre-comveption ones. I believe it is recommended you can start taking folic acid too whilst trying to conceive. Not sure they actually help get the job done, but anything is worth a shot.

They didn't delay my Luteal last month though. My ovulation was a little late, but that varies anyhow.

Oh my goodness, do people ttc really not know that they should be taking 400mcg of folic acid daily? It's nothing to do with conceiving, but significantly reduces the risk of neural tube defects (spina bifida) in the baby. It's a Govt recommendation and is really important.

Gingerandcocoa · 28/09/2013 09:43

I've been taking them for months now and my cycle is exactly the same length it used to be.... Having said that I'm not too diligent in taking them, and do skip the odd day

Gingerandcocoa · 28/09/2013 09:45

bless that was unnecessary

DizzyPurple · 28/09/2013 09:49

Yes you need folic acid but that doesn't mean you have to buy the fancy expensive prenatal / pregnacare vitamins. Folic acid on its own is cheap and easy to obtain.
Bless - play nice..

Sorry if it came across as rude -I was just genuinely shocked that people don't seem to know about it. Ok it's 9years since I was last pregnant and nutrition is my 'thing' but I am honestly worried if that message isn't getting out there. It's an honest question.

Gingerandcocoa · 28/09/2013 10:45

Pregnacare is ridiculously expensive! Boots have a cheaper version with very similar nutrients

Writerwannabe83 · 28/09/2013 10:47

If that was aimed at me Bliss - I have been on 5mg of Folic Acid (very high dose) since 4 months before we were even TTC. I think all women know about Folic Acid, I just wasn't aware there were other vitamins we were supposed to be taking as well.

newforest · 28/09/2013 11:48

I don't think you're supposed to take them as such. Folic acid is the most critical. If you have a good diet I wouldn't worry but would probably take extra vits when pregnant. I think it's an individual choice whether or not you take multiple pre-conception vits.

PurpleGeekyGirl · 28/09/2013 12:04

I've been ttc for over a year and am also borderline anaemic with erratic cycles hence taking something to help with that. Had no idea they'd have this effect on me tho! Back to plain old folic acid and iron tables now.

I've been taking generic folic acid recommended dose for 8 months now. BFN, but four days late. Cycle usually around 31 days. Now on CD 35.
