Hi. I am just going to get to the point.

DH and I have been TTC baby #2 for almost 4 years, with no luck. It hasn't been consistent because he's in the army and in those 4 years, he has been in Afghanistan twice. He also goes away a lot. I have not had consistent periods. For the first 2 1/2 years of TTC I had no periods at all (because I had previously had the depo injection in Oct 2008) Then I had my periods started again by a provera pill in March last year and had consistent periods for 5 months (but my husband was in afghan at the time) and then they just totally stopped again, until this week. My period just started completely on its own. Its been a medium flow, normal period and I just can't believe its happened on its own. I am quite over-weight (so embarrassed to admit, but there you go) so I know that probably wasn't helping the situation. I am assuming once this period has finished I could (maybe) ovulate this month? We would just love our second child, but I feel it will never happen. My doctor has previously mentioned in the past that I could have PCOS, but then another doctor said my hormone levels were fine so he didn't think it was. I am so confused but happy that I have my period because this may be what I need to maybe conceive? I feel like I have just given up and have started to fully accept that we won't have any other children. Has anyone been in similar situations? Anyone have any success stories about conceiving even at plus size? Sorry if my post hasn't made much sense, I am still trying to make sense of it all myself.

Thank you.

It does sound like PCOS could be a likely explanation for what you are going to. Clomid helps a lot of women with this condition to ovulate.

Losing weight will help. Some women with PCOS find their regular periods return when they lose weight. Also, keeping your blood sugar stable by eating a low GI diet can also help.

As above really -sorry I don't have much new to contribute, but with your periods coming and going and you being overweight, I'd suggest PCOS needs to be properly ruled out. I'd see your GP again. And, if you can, try to lose weight. Even a little can help. Good luck.
