natural progesterone creams

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has had any success with natural progesterone creams? I have all the symptoms of low progesterone and am convinced this is what is causing my fertility issues (TTC a year for number two). I am getting very frustrated and fed up with GP and not getting anywhere fast, so have been reading up about it myself and want to try a natural cream. Anyone done this and had any success with it?

Hiya, I can't help I'm afraid, but out of curiosity was wondering what the symptoms are?

Hiya,

I have a short luteal phase... Swollen breasts and bloating that increase just after ovulation but never really disappear completely throughout cycle. Non existant sex drive :( ...

I had a look at these. Some of the progesterones used can't be metabolised by the body, so would be of little use. Also, oestrogen and progesterone work in sync and you can cause problems by playing around with your levels. If you've been ttc for a year, you should be able to have investigations and start towards treatment now. Why do you think progesterone is the problem? Have you had Day 21 tests and are you sure you are ovulating?

Ah right, I've never really heard of this condition so it's interesting to know. Have you had any help from your doctor? I hope someone on here can give you some advice.

I have been to GP and they have done day 21 test which came back as saying I likely ovulated. I know I ovulate anyway as I have had chemical pregnancies. I think the problem is with the implantation part. My progesterone level on the test was at the lowest end of normal (one count lower and it would have been 'low').

I have done alot of reading about 'oestrogen dominanace' and basically tick every box...

I think vitamin b6 can help with pegosterone (sp?). Sorry if you already knew that.

It can, pizzaqueen. You can get a mixed B Vit tablet very cheaply at Aldi btw.

OP: I think that usually in these cases the GP would give you progesterone suppositries once he knows you're pg. Obviously that's a bit tricky with chemical pgs. I may be wrong, but I don't think low progesterone actually affects implantation: if you have high enough progesterone to have ovulated and you go on to conceive, the embryo should be able to implant unless there's a problem with it or with your womb lining. Progesterone production would then increase once implantation had occurred. Is your GP not investigating why your chemical pgs have occurred??

The progesterone creams are too weak to work, so you'd need a prescription from your GP. They should do something because of the combination of symptoms even though your progesterone is not officially low. Everyone might need different levels though, so if yours is on the lower side that could cause your symptoms.

Progesterone does thicken the lining of your womb, so if that's low, then implantation might not be successful.
