Hi
Sorry to hear about your MCs. :(

I was in a similar position to you last year and I just had accept, hard as it was, that my weight might be a factor.
I started logging everything I ate on my fitness pal, stuck to 1800 cals a day, and the weight gradually came off. I lost about a pound a week which doesnt sound like a massive amount, but I lost 2 stone in 6 months. That's just what worked for me, the trick us to find something you can stick with, rather than a quick fix i think.
I think easing off the booze and generally eating better probably helped, but we got there in the end.

Have you had blood tests via the GP? If you've been trying for 2 years then you shoukd be able to get a referral

Slimming World is a fantastic, supportive and sensible plan that you can continue throughout pregnancy. I have been TTC for 2 years and made the decision to lose some weight as I felt the Fertility Clinic would have suggested my weight was the problem. I lost just over 2 stone and my weight wasn't even mentioned at our appointment. A friend of mine was asked by her GP to try losing weight and to return in 6 months when they would consider a referral.
Good luck Xx

Hi yes I agree that weight might unfortunately be an issue. When you say you can't shift it, what have you been trying?

RobotHamster · 27/08/2013 08:57

I've remembered a couple of other things. Because my BMI was over 30 I took high dose folic acid (5mg). Recommended by the royal college of midwives, and my GP happily prescribed it.

My cycle was all over the place so I took vitamin B6 to try and regulate it, which seemed to work

Has anybody mentioned low dose aspirin to you? Not sure when its recommended.

mummyneedinganswers · 27/08/2013 20:12

Ive tried dieting, exercise, the 5:2 diet ive tried so much but my weight gain was due to over eating or lack of exercise it was due to my medication so its harder to shift now

I know how you feel x I have put on a lot of weight since I had my 3rd DS and have found getting pregnant in the passed easy (all three fell in the first 3 months) now I have been TTC for 6 months and nothing and I know when I do go to the doctor I will be told to lose weight before they will help :( What do you think the problem is are you ovulating? I am trying vit b6 to regulate and have bought Vitex Agnus-castus to help ovulate then preseed, temping and ovulation tests. What are you doing?

mummyneedinganswers · 28/08/2013 14:16

Thats seems like madness you need to monitor when you ovulate to know when you need to BD! I would have thought TTC for 2 years would cause you stress enough. You dont need to go mad but I would start monitoring your monthly cycle nothing major just use a diary you need to start monitoring your Cervical fluid (do you know much about this? if not let me know) this will help you know when to DTD before Ovulation. xx

Also just to add with regards to 1lb loss a week being slow, if you lose 1lb a week for a year that would be 52lb!

I was very slim ttc no1 and conceived first month trying.

I was overweight when we started ttc no2 - probably 3 stone overweight. I've struggled with my weight ever since I was 20 or so. My periods were irregular when I was overweight. We had been trying for a year to get pregnant and I had suspicions it was my weight but I was in complete denial. I was extremely ashamed of my weight (I am v small in height) and I refused to admit that I was overweight - I did my best to disguise it by wearing certain clothes, colours etc.
anyway, approaching a year of ttc the Penney finally dropped, it was weight related. I started a low calorie diet, cut out the rubbish and started going to the gym twice a week. I was desperately unfit to begin with. The weight fell off. I was used to stuffing myself with chocolate, eating huge dinners and eating take always twice at weekends. By stopping all that my body literally dropped pounds every week.
I conceived no.2 8 weeks later and I have absolutely no doubt it was due to the weightloss, I think I lost 1.5 stone in that time although apparently half a stone is enough to stimulate ovulation (which you say isn't a problem) but will really give your reproductive area a good kick start.

I am now ttc no.3 and 2 stone overweight. I began diet last month as I know the importance of it due to the last time and I've lost almost half a stone.
I've researched a LOW GI DIET and it is vital for women who are struggling with weight and fertility. Research it for yourself, the success stories are just incredible. Very high success rate.

If you think the problem is medication your doctor will have to do something about that, it's not good enough to dismiss you like thAt.

I wish you all the luck in the world XX
