Irregular is more than seven days difference.

blueamber · 22/08/2013 10:23

The cycles that were 37 and 49 are indeed irregular. I would just go see the doc and see what they say.

Suzietwo · 22/08/2013 10:25

thanks. yes, i have done.

i absolutely loathe seeing GPs about stuff like this. it feels a complete waste of time.

Since September last year my cycles have went from 24 day cycle to til now 30 but I've been taking vit b6 I think it might be time to stop!

VJONES1985 · 22/08/2013 10:51

Babyrose - 30 days is still in the 'normal' range. Looks like mine is gonna be about 32 days this month :( Stop taking them if you aren't keen, although increased ewcm is a good thing!

Is it worth seeing what low GI does for a couple of months first?

Suzietwo · 22/08/2013 11:16

yep, trying low GI too. think is i never go particularly high GI. its a decade since i had PCOS so i am going to really cross if its back

I know it's so hard to try and do what's bestSad

To me, 'irregular' is exactly what it says: not regular ie varying quite widely in length. However, whenever I've mentioned my history of irregular periods to a HCP, they've always responded with "How often then?" I don't know - they're irregular! Mine are ok now, but at their worst, I could go three months without a bleed or have three very separate bleeds in 5.5 weeks. I'd say that was irregular, but it doesn't have to be so dramatic.

If you're ttc, I wouldn't think there's anything wrong with going to your GP about your cycles as they are. If not, I'd leave it another couple of months and see what happens. Did anything stressful happen in the two long cycles that could've delayed ovulation?

deliasmithy · 23/08/2013 21:33

Hi,

Suzietwo - your pattern looks similar to mine, and I have just found out I have polycystic ovaries. I didn't know pcos could go away but then I don't know much about it at all as my gp was very unhelpful.

It sounds like it would be worth having blood tests to check ovulation.

Sparrowlegs248 · 23/08/2013 21:52

Sorry to butt in - can some explain what low GI does please?

IrnBruTheNoo · 25/08/2013 14:44

I had two periods in last month (start and end of month) and now awaiting August one. CD31 now...last one was 25 days.

IrnBruTheNoo · 25/08/2013 14:46

OP, I know what it's like, I can truly sympathise with you :(

eurochick · 25/08/2013 16:07

notta in short, PCOS is thought to be related to insulin levels. If you control insulin levels through a low GI diet, PCOS should improve. That's a very simplified version, but you can read about it in a book by Theresa Cheung and someone else called The PCOS Handbook.
