21 day bloods might have pcos

I am hoping a lovely mner has some advice please....

I went for 21 day bloods this morning. I got a call from my doctors surgery this afternoon saying they are confident I am ovulating but they want me to go for an ultrasound as I might have PCOS.

I always spot before af and have done ever since I came off the pill 2 years ago so I assumed it was hormonal as I was on the progesterone only pill. I am a normal weight and having researched I have none of the obvious pcos symptoms.

I am being paranoid but because they said it takes 3 weeks to get results back but mine took 8 hours I am worried it is something more sinister and they are not telling me?

Am I being ridiculous?!

No real advice, but am in a similar situation, so thought I'd comment and bump the thread.

I do have some PCOS symptoms; excess hair, irregular cycle (although it's only recently that it's become irregular) and so I asked for the tests. I had 21 day bloods, and then another set taken on day 1-5. Each time I got the results in about a week. Today confirmed it's almost certainly PCOS and they're booking me an ultrasound to complete the diagnosis.

Can't think of any reason why your results were back so soon - do you know when you'll get your date for your ultrasound (I'm waiting for a letter; did they say if you'd get a call or a letter?)

The only advice I can give is to try not to dwell on it until you get your ultrasound appointment - maybe look into Metformin, as that's the current PCOS drug of choice. There are a few threads on here about it which I've found really helpful.

Thank you for your reply. When they phoned I was at work so it was a one-way conversation. She said they would be in touch but didn't specify whether it would be a phone call or a letter. I just found it odd that she told me before I went it takes15 days for the blood results to come in but this was more like 15 minutes.

I guess on the plus side she didn't ask me to see the right away. I think I can live with whatever it may be as long as I know either way, it is the waiting that is frustrating.

I hope all goes well for you, it is a lot more common than I first realised!
