TTC using DI/IUI, with a side-helping of PCOS

Don't you just love all these acronyms!

I've just been almost-diagnosed with PCOS (by which I mean all the blood tests and symptoms point fairly conclusively to it, but I need an ultrasound to get the definite dx), the doctor (GP) hinted that he'd be putting me on Metformin to combat it. I've had a bit of a look around on here and am expecting a few dodgy side effects, but for the Metformin to start me ovulating.

I am planning on starting TTC in the next year or two. Thing is I don't have a partner (don't want one, and yes I know that it'll be hard, but the choice has been made) so will have to go via a private fertility clinic and use donor sperm. I'm 28, and a bit overweight, although just obese rather than morbidly so (and I'm hoping the Metformin might help get some of the weight off, as dieting alone is not doing it.)

What I need to know is what the chances are, realistically, of successfully conceiving, and how the PCOS will affect things - I don't want to enter into this with too high expectations. It's going to be hideously expensive, so I need to factor in saving up for the treatment, and so an idea of success rates might give me a clue as to how many cycles I'm going to need to go through (or when would be the time to call it a day) .

Have any of you any experience of the above? Either DI/IUI or TTC with PCOS?
