Do you alway have a period 2 weeks (or there abouts) after ovulating?

I am 7 months post birth dc2 and keep getting ewcm every few weeks but not yet had a period. Is it possible to ovulate and not have a period (other than when pregnant) or is it my body trying to ovulate or something else entirely?

If you ovulate you will have a period 12-16 days after, so you haven't ovulated yet. After birth it's normal for your body to start gearing up for ovulation, but then not getting there - they're false starts. But in time your body should start producing enough hormones to cause ovulation.

Ovulation occurs around the middle of the cycle, so usually it appears two weeks after period.

It is not possible to ovulate and it have a period. Ovulation sets of a domino effect of hormones and only has 2 possible outcomes - pregnancy or your period.

Everyone's cycle is different, but a "normal" luteal phase (the phase of your cycle after ovulation) is considered to be 10-16 days, but most are 12-16 days.

It is not true to say that you ovulate halfway through your cycle - that assumes you have a cycle of 20-32 days and many women do not. The first half of your cycle can be totally variable from one cycle to the next, the luteal have is the consistent phase. So if you have a 40 day cycle you would expect to ovulate between Day 24 and Day 30.

Ovulation is not an exact science and a woman can ovulate earlier, later or not at all in ANY given cycle.

A "normal" cycle is a cycle length of between 21 and 35 days or with less than 4 days of variation from month to month. Cycle lengths of over 35 days if consistently over that time frame may not all be ovulatory.

Also it is quite possible to have a period without ovulating.

I was told by my fertility consultant that bleeding without ovulation is "breakthrough" bleeding, not a true period. I had several cycles of 70+ days but only bled after ovulation finally happened.
