Hi ladies reading up on pregnacy and it says if your BMi is over 30 you drop 4 % of getting pregant.

I'm 5ft 2 I weigh 12 stone 7bls and my BMi is 32 so that means 8% lower :(

I wouldn't say I'm really over weight but the last year I have out on a stone and half (stress and usual excuses.)

On the positive I haven't been on the pill for 2 years I have only used condoms as contrception.

Do you think this could tarnish my chances of getting pregnant ? I am ,asking healthier choices now.

Also started taking pregnacy multi vitiamans

Absolutely not Grin.
Being over weight will make getting pregnant harder but it certainly won't make it impossible.
Making healthier food choices and exercising will certainly help though, and if/when you do get pregnant it's better for you and your bubba if your body is in the best jape it can be.
Good luck

Sorry, but 12 and a half stone at 5 foot two is very over weight.

Sarahmains40 · 31/07/2013 22:03

I know its very overweight but I'm not massively obese is what I meant. No point in putting sorry informs of an insult. I am in no denial I'm fat lol that why I was asking the question

even modest changes in weight will improve your chances, a weight loss of between 5 and 10% can hugely impact on your ovulation. Make healthier life choices but don't crash diet. If everyone had to be the perfect weight before becoming pregnant (whether over or under) the human race would die out.

Although you are right - textbook that's overweight. I know a lot of friends who are medically obese who conceived and carried babies at 40+bmi.
Yes it's not ideal and can cause complications but at least you are trying to live a healthier lifestyle now. Trying a crash diet would be likely to be more detrimental to your fertility. Good luck! Fingers crossed you'll be fine.
(I should caveat this note. I am shorter than you and siginifacntly heavier. I have also tried to lead a healthier lifestyle the last few months. Yes in an ideal world I would hit bmi 25 before I started ttc, but then I'd likely be two years further into my 30's which is probably equally as impactful on my fertility. )

Thanks ladies your right I'm going swimming on a night after work, decided to walk to work on my half days shifts 4 out of six. And eating all home cooked fresh food , no takeaways. I know why I put the weight on my hubby and I renovated a house while working full time and I didn't eat for hours then when I did it was the wrong stuff. Overall I am a healthy person I don't smoke or drink. So I am trying to make changes. Your right no crash dieting
