Is it poss to see a different doctor to the last one? I'm not sure 'oh, just wait a week and test again' really suggests she has much empathy to the stresses of prolonged TTC and IVF (or even just being pregnant at any time!) Some gp surgeries have different specialisms for the different doctors (which might be on a website if the bouncers receptionists aren't forthcoming) - if there is anyone with a leaning towards fertility type things it may be that they could organise it with a call back appt rather than having to go in? Hope someone will help you out today without it being a real mission xx

Biscuitsandtea · 16/08/2013 09:38

And I third crying on the gp!

TheLittleFriend · 16/08/2013 09:38

Still brooking for you here cups x

NoMaybeAboutIt · 16/08/2013 09:44

Cups I agree, try and see a different GP.

I know you don't want to go to A&E, but isn't pain and bleeding after a positive test A&E worthy?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 16/08/2013 09:49

My own GP is the one who specialises in these things and she's on holiday. The GP I saw yesterday is also meant to have an "interest". There is no point in seeing anyone else there as the other doctors are male and I have seen both of them over ttc and they couldn't have been less interested.

I'm going to wait for the beta test results and if this continues I think I will go to A&E. I can't carry on like this for the next 3 days waiting for the clinic to get involved. DH is in bits, he's so angry. I think if the beta is low or decreasing its better to know as soon as possible.

OP posts:
NoMaybeAboutIt · 16/08/2013 09:52

That sounds like a plan Cups. Ths waiting and worrying isn't good for you or MrC at all. What time are your results due back?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 16/08/2013 09:57

GP says to call in the afternoon. I know the lab will have processed them already. It's so frustrating as I know lots of people that could access the results for me right now but it's against trust policy to access family/friends information even with their consent.

GreenOlives · 16/08/2013 09:58

cups Sad So sorry you're having to deal with this. Just to warn you that A&E won't always do beta hcg blood tests, we only do them at work if clinical history suggests ectopic. Otherwise it's just a 'wait and see' approach which I know is not what you want to hear! Just don't want you to have a stressful trip to A&E and still not be any better off. x

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 16/08/2013 10:03

Oh Cups sorry you're going through this. Brooking my socks off for you. Hope you can get the second test done.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 16/08/2013 10:05

I was worried about that Olives, I guess I'll only go to A&E if the pain becomes unbearable.

OP posts:
BeedlesPineNeedles · 16/08/2013 10:39

I'm so sorry you have all this uncertainty cups
Is MrCups angry at teh clinic not wanting to get involved until their stupidly late OTD?

((hugs)) and Cake

musicalmrs · 16/08/2013 11:11

Still brooking lots Cups. I did get HCG results from A and E on a couple of occasions, but in the majority they were completely clueless. They just don't know what to do with women in early PG I don't think. It's only when I told them what I wanted that I finally got a referral to gynaecology, who did bloods straight away and were wonderful.

Can you not try and inisist on a blood test today? Even if they're not the optimal distance apart they can work out whether it's rising along the right lines...

Brook brook brook.

SweetieTime · 16/08/2013 11:35

Aw Cups what a horrible situation to be in. I do hope it all has a positive outcome. It must be really messing with your and MrC heads. As muscial says would they do another blood test today as a single result is another thing to mental about, you need a second result to compare to. Nothing else I can say, I am brooking that all works out and try to keep the positives musical and smegs outcomes in your mind.

DinoSnores · 16/08/2013 13:16

Brooking for you, cups.

GreenOlives · 16/08/2013 13:54

cups I hope the pain/bleeding has eased off. Just be aware that even if you do get more bloods done it still won't tell you anything conclusive (I realise you prob know this already!) It is only having a scan once you are 6+ weeks that can actually confirm what's going on. I realise I'm probably teaching my grandmother to suck eggs by saying this but when your pregnant and bleeding the ONLY thing that reassures you is seeing a little hb (and that's speaking as someone who's been there personally and with lots of ladies at work)
Thinking of you and brooking sooo hard. Please pm or fb me if you want to let off steam.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 16/08/2013 14:54

Thanks everyone. I know your right Olives that there is not anything that can be done as such but I really think that I should be receiving some support from my clinic or GP. At most other clinics I would be past my OTD and would be having full support. Instead I feel like I'm bothering and wasting everyone's time. I have no hope this will end well. The bleeding is now much heavier and I'm having really bad abdominal cramps. If this is all over by Monday will my clinic even acknowledge I was pregnant? I want the beta as hopefully it will be my "proof". My GP even tried to insinuate that maybe I was getting false positives. Luckily I had 8 pee sticks with me including 2 clearblue digi.

I've called the GPs twice for my results, they are there but they haven't been seen by a doctor. I've been told to call at 5:30.

OP posts:
NoMaybeAboutIt · 16/08/2013 15:03

Oh Cups they really are taking the piss aren't they. I hope they get there act together soon. I'm so sorry that the pain and bleeding is worse. If its bad, you really do need to be seen by a doctor lovely. As far as the clinic acknowledging your pregnancy, I'm not sure. I know that clinics don't class a pregnancy successful to the HFEA until the scan.

I'm so angry on your behalf at the sheer lack of support you have received xxx

ControlGeek · 16/08/2013 17:23

Oh cups you poor sweetheart, that is utterly, utterly shit. I am so sorry not just at what you and mrc are going through, but that you are having to go through it without the help and support of the medical staff about you. Have you/can you take anything for the pain? I really hope the gp who gives you the blood results is halfway decent and can help you manage the situation until monday. I can't believe the clinic won't get involved until then. Is there anyone who can come round and be with you and mrc? It sounds like you could both do with someone there.

GenericDietCola · 16/08/2013 17:41

Oh cups, this is rubbish and the waiting is so hard. Been there 3 times. Like Olives says, it's hard to tell how things are going until the scan anyway, although the hcg results may shed some light. Brooking like mad for you.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 16/08/2013 17:45

Cups hoping you're getting some RL support, and your gp stops being an arse helps too.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 16/08/2013 17:59

Hi Beta is 83 so obviously positive but not very high. I couldn't speak to the GP. I guess it really is just a case of waiting now.

OP posts:
BeedlesPineNeedles · 16/08/2013 18:05

Sorry you're going to have wait all weekend for any definite answers but I don't think 83 is obviously bad at this stage. Of course until you know for sure that its rising or falling you can't tell. But don't give up hope on little cuplet yet. We'll be booking all weekend for you. ((hugs))

NoMaybeAboutIt · 16/08/2013 18:11

Brooking hard for you Cups how is the pain now?

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 16/08/2013 18:14

The pain has settled for a bit thank god. I've been having weird stabbing pains very low down that where taking my breath away but they've gone now. I'm somehow hoping I can survive the weekend without driving myself crazy.

OP posts:
NoMaybeAboutIt · 16/08/2013 18:17

I'm so pleased you aren't in as much pain. Have you got anything planned for the weekend to try and keep your mind occupied?
