We're trying to conceive but I've had a run of throat infections. Will this affect out chances?

I wouldn't have thought so other than the fact that being generally 'healthy' maximises your chance of conception. Are you particularly run down? Are you periods still regular?

Bear in mind when taking pg tests if and when that some ABs (not sure which ones mind, and I'd imagine it's only a select few) can affect the test result.

Been quite run down, ironically after rubella vaccination to make sure safe during pg. periods are bang in 28 days which us good had trouble conceiving DC1 but DC2 followed quickly

It's advised to wait a month after the vaccination before ttc, I don't know if it's been a month for you? Other than that, throat infections shouldn't be severe enough to delay ovulation or anything.

Raraz I didn't know about antibiotics affecting the result.
Blueamber my doctor told me to wait 3 months so I think it should all be ok. I think I ovulated a couple of days late but it's covered. So Wo worried about antibiotics ( am on clarithromycin ) but dr thinks it's early enough to be ok. I read that it can double the chances of mc and am quietly freaking out. She says what will be will be and that if a baby can survive it will and if not then nature will take it's course. Sounds harsh to me.

So you're on ABs which can cause mc and still ttc? I'd be inclined to use protection for now and save yourself the possible heartache - trust me, mc is horrible Sad.

I'm guessing you may be allergic to penicillins Ocean? They are considered the safer antibiotic to prescribe during pregnancy. I'm also allergic, so can't be prescribed it. Your GP will have weighed up te risks. If not taking it will make you more sick, this would be detrimental to your health and potential baby.

Erythromycin is slightly safer than clarithromycin during pregnancy. But seen as you are not yet pregnant, any risks posed by the drugs are minimal.

I hope this helps put your mind at ease Smile

I have just pvulated so I hope a potential baby will be safe. Too late for protection. The infection started in the 2ww. Praying all ok if there's any sign of life.
