Hi everyone! Smile
I'm 25yrs old, hubby and I have been trying since 1st January (thought that'd make it easier date-wise) and nothing yet. Been off Cerazette since 1st December 2012.
Went to the dr this evening and he suggested blood tests to check hormone levels as since Jan my cycles have all been irregular, between 28-34 days.
The surgery can't fit me in on day 21, which would be the 7th, the closest to that date they had available was this Wednesday, day 17 that would be. Is that ok? The dr didn't mention how strict the timing was for this day 21 test. Should I press them to fit me in on Monday, so day 22? Keep phoning and hope for a cancellation? Or try the OTHER health centre at the other end of the town, who might be able to fit me in on Monday?
So confused. So so confused Confused. I don't know the protocol for all this shit! I assumed we'd have no trouble, as I'm 25 and hubby is 40. Thought we'd bonk for a few months and then hey-ho have a BFP, we'd all drink lemonade, The End. But no! My bits (or his, maybe) just won't play ball. Le sigh.

Hope this isn't a completely daft thread Blush, I'm sure there's other threads out there that cover this but I'm so tired, hubby's on early shifts this week so I need to go to bed NOW!
Thanks

Day 17 will probably be too early to be conclusive, particularly as your cycles tend towards the longer side. Day 22 should be fine though, so press for that. Your husband should also get the ball rolling (pun intended) wrt getting himself tested with his GP.

Yes, with your DH being older, I'd get him tested asap as well. It's all a lot easier for men anyway...

Ohh thank you euro and MrsH - that's put my mind at rest! I read these and rang the other health centre - I'm booked in there on day 22 so hopefully that'll be a better representation of all my whammy hormones Hmm
DH has been given a charming little sample jar and instructions to "collect in the morning, and keep it warm in your pocket on the drive to the hospital..." hehe as you say MrsH, it's a damn sight easier for him to give a sample Wink than it is for me Sad!
Thank you so much for your advice, and so QUICKLY too! MN really is as supportive as I heard Grin
Poor MIL lost a good friend of hers v suddenly at the weekend, DH knew her too, so they're both so sad at the mo. My mum conceived me during a v stressful time, lets hope I have the same luck! DH has this theory that for a new life to start, an old one somewhere has to give way...population studies contradict that but I like the idea Smile

It was poor on behalf of the department in question to advise your DH to drive the sample to the hospital.

I would instead advise your DH to do his sample at the hospital and then give it in for testing. This is because such samples can go "off" very quickly and so the sample is not suitable to be tested. BTW semen analysis should always be repeated; one good sample is not fully conclusive.

Day 21 is only part of the story; you should also be having a day 2 test done to compare your LH level against that of your FSH level.

I'm quite surprised they're sending you for testing My cycles last from 28 to 35 days and have been described as "fairly regular" by the doctors. Hope all is ok for you.
