Hello,

After some advice on whether its worth DH seeing Jonathan Ramsey before we ivf cycle again. DHs sperm has always been a bit erratic but generally poor (low count (was 0 when when we wanted to do a DNA frag test), bad motility, not sure about morphology). Last try we had 9 eggs that could be fertilised (they were grainy), but only 4 fert and these embies were slow growing and 10-20% frag. Ended up,being a day three transfer (1 3 cell, 1 4 cell), the other two arrested, and the two transferred resulted in a bfn (not surprises!).

I'm really looking for advise on whether our situation I'd bad enough for Ramsay or whether he is more useful for those who have to have reversals, sperm extraction etc.

Experience/advise gratefully received

Thank you!

I saw Mr Ramsay with my DH after our first failed cycle. In my eyes he's amazing. Such a lovely man, he took the time to take a full history (and actually examine my DH which noone had done before). He tried to look for the reason why my DH had such low counts (which, again noone had done before). He did some more detailed sperm analysis and diagnosed an infection which he thought was causing antibodies and consequently poor mobility. He prescribed a long course of antibiotics and also gave us a lot of general advice re:diet, lifestyle etc.

By the time we had our second cycle my DHs numbers were significantly better and our fertilization rate went from 40% with low grade embryos to 80% with top grade embryos. We now have a lovely 16 month old son.

Since then my DHs numbers have continued to improve and we conceived naturally 4 months ago (it was quite a shock!).

I couldn't recommend Mr ramsay highly enough and I feel very strongly that anyone with 'male factor' issues should see a urologist with an interest in male infertility before embarking on any treatment. Unfortunate ivf clinics are run in the most part by gynecologists who just aren't expert in male factor.

Good luck. Feel free to pm me if you want any more info.
